Rascal

Image
Rascal hugs your arm when he crawls into your lap.  When he knows he is adored, his spirits soar!  Rascal is a vibrant young boy, a blend of Aussie & German Shepherd, 3 years of age and neutered, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  He was at another shelter that ran out of space.  Please visit and ask for Rascal by name.

Rascal is in intelligent young boy with a no-nonsense personality, but when you bring him catnip he frolics like he's a young kitten again.  Rascal is a very attractive orange tabby & white with copper eyes, 1 year of age and neutered, good with other cats, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA . He needed us due to his previous owners' financial hardship.

Rascal , a good-natured young Norwich Terrier mix, debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is fun-loving and friendly, 2 years of age and neutered.  Rascal was at another shelter that asked for our help because he is picky about other dogs.  We determined that Rascal gets along very well with other dogs when off-leash, but gets grumpy when he meets dogs while on-leash. This is not uncommon and precautions just need to be made when he meets new dogs while going for walks.

Rascal -- Before & After

Image
Morning of his debut for adoption Before his groom at Hair of the Dog spa After his groom at Hair of the Dog spa We commend the creativity of Hair of the Dog spa , who decided on a lamb-like haircut to save as much of Rascal's coat as possible.  The results are amazing and Rascal feels so much better.  Rascal is a Bichon Frise, 5 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is housetrained, good with other dogs, and spirited in personality (too fussy and irritable to be around young kids).  We also had dental care provided for Rascal that included cleaning and 14 teeth extractions.  Please help Rascal find a wonderful home where he will never be neglected again.

Foster home update: Rascal enjoying Willow Beach.

Image
Rascal's wonderful foster parents, Jennifer and Corey, shared these images of Rascal enjoying Willow Beach, Colorado River.  They welcomed 12-year-old Rascal into their hearts and home earlier this year, knowing that he is in his twilight months, and dedicated to giving him all the love and comfort they can.  Many of you may remember Rascal .  He has been a hero at Nevada SPCA, socializing severely neglected and abused dogs as their kennel mate, bringing them peace with his calm presence.  Thank you very much to Jennifer and Corey, and to Kris and the other remarkable volunteers who have worked with Rascal and the dogs he mentored while at the shelter.

I still think of myself as a young pup, excited for each new and precious day.

Rascal is a kind and thoughtful older boy.  His eyes are cloudy and he's not as agile, but his spirit is young and enthusiastic.  Rascal is great with other dogs (and he's even serving as a big brother for an extremely neglected rescued dog at the moment).  Rascal is a noble, handsome blend of Australian Shepherd & Retriever, about 11 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He was on the streets at the time of rescue.  Very special thanks to Pet'ographique for perfectly capturing his lively spirit and compassion in this new portrait in order to help him find a loving, forever home with dignity for his twilight years.

Why was I rejected at 11 years of age?

Why was this 11-year-old boy with cloudy eyes wandering the streets, lost and perplexed?  Rascal was saved before physical harm could come his way and his emotional harm is no longer evident. In fact, he keeps a sunny outlook and has bonde d closely with several volunteers and staff.  Rascal is a medium-size Australian Shepherd & Retriever mix, neutered boy, ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Rascal is exceptionally sweet, kind, and thoughtful, and great with other dogs. Please help him find a hero who will cherish him during his twilight years.

I never imagined that I would be homeless.

Contrary to his name, Rascal is actually a very sweet, cheery, good natured youngster. We love his prancing, proud walk and warm eyes. Rascal debuts for adoption today.  He is a small Terrier mix, neutered boy, about 3 years of age. We rescued him from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space.  Prior to that all we know is that he was out on the streets on his own. But we know he delights in kind people and dogs and enjoys being included in as many activities as possible. Please visit and ask for Rascal by name.

Who is going to take care of me and love me?

Update: Rascal was adopted on November 27th! Rascal is an adorable little trooper, playful and very good-natured. He is a Silky Terrier, neutered male, about 4 years of age, and he debuts for adoption today. Rascal needed us due to his owners' financial collapse. He enjoys other dogs and may do best in a home with another dog (or dogs). Rascal needs regular grooming care, which varies with each individual but plan for at least quarterly sessions with a professional groomer and budget accordingly. Rascal may need your patience and guidance (and a stable routine) to complete housetraining. He reportedly has the basic concept down, but has occasional accidents in the house. Addendum: Rascal requires an adult-only home. It is a strict condition of his adoption that he has no access whatsoever to toddlers or young children.
