Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Harlequin , a shining bundle of love, likes smiling at people, going for car rides, and sleeping next to monkey-shaped toys.  He needed us when his previous owner passed away.  Harlequin is a charming Pug, almost 8 years of age, a neutered boy, housetrained & crate-trained, good with other sweet dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .

Frank is an inquisitive, earnest boy who loves being with and bonding with people.  He is a super cute Pug, 6 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Frank gets along with dogs larger than himself, but tends to be too bossy and overbearing with those who are smaller.  Precautions are needed for short-nosed dogs, like Frank , in the desert to avoid tragic overheating and extreme exertion, so please be knowledgeable about Pugs before considering Frank to be a lifelong member of your family.

Taffy is a comical, jovial youngster who likes playing ball and making people smile. He is a super cute Pug, 2 years of age, neutered boy, good with cats & dogs & mature kids, plus housetrained too, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    Taffy needed us when his previous owners moved away without him.

Rebel is a social Puggle (Pug & Beagle mix) who enjoys being included in all of the family activities. He is good with cats, children, and dogs, plus housetrained & crate-trained.  Rebel is about 7 years of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He needed us when his previous owners moved away without him.  Please visit and ask for Rebel by name.

Hoagie and Ruby Hoagie and Ruby Look who got a fun day at Pet'ographique ! Our two one-eyed sweethearts, Hoagie and Ruby , teamed up for this super cute portrait to help each other find loving, forever homes. They are available for adoption separately at Nevada SPCA.  Hoagie is a good-natured Miniature Pinscher, about 7 years of age, neutered boy.  Ruby is a "Chug" (Chihuahua/Pug) with a sparkling personality, about 10 years of age, spayed girl.  Individual portraits below: Ruby Ruby Hoagie

Jaguar is an enchanting, sweet, lovable young Pug debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Unbelievably, he was rejected by his previous owner for "masturbating". And instead of getting him neutered, he was surrendered to us.  Jaguar deserves better, certainly. We had him neutered and we want to find a loving, forever home for him, ideally with an owner who has knowledge about Pugs.  Jaguar is 3 years of age and good with other dogs.

Handsome & Rhea :  Brother & sister "Chugs", and soul-mates, Rhea worships her big brother and feels safe when Handsome is around. They were temporarily split up when they were spayed/neutered and she cried non-stop until they were reunited after their surgeries. They are Chihuahua & Pug mixes, 9 month old puppies, housetrained & crate-trained, good with dogs and older kids. Handsome & Rea needed us because one of their previous family members was allergic to them.  Please come adopt this adorable pair at Nevada SPCA .

Bailey & Ling Ling Bailey & Ling Ling are Pugs with whimsical personalities. This entertaining pair of siblings (brother and sister) are soul-mates and they need to stay together for life. Bailey & Ling Ling are spayed/neutered, 6 years of age, and good with other dogs. Pug knowledge and/or experience is preferred for their adoption. We believe that their previous owner's financial hardship is the reason they needed rescue.  Please visit and adopt them today.

Update: Pugslee was adopted on February 4th! Pugslee is an incredibly adorable puppy who will thrive in a calm home, free of melodrama. Like so many other innocent animals, he needed us when one of his previous owners reportedly surrendered him in order to punish another family member. Pugslee is a Pug & Chihuahua mix, neutered boy, approximately 4-5 months of age, debuting for adoption today. He enjoys other friendly dogs.  He is strong-willed, so an experienced owner is needed, plus he needs patience and good guidance to complete housetraining . Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for Pugslee's safety and protection.

Update: Wii was adopted on January 10th! Smiles are guaranteed when you play with Wii . He snorts and grunts, cutely, getting very excited as he knows he is winning your applause. Wii is a young, good-looking Pug debuting for adoption today.  He is neutered and about 2 years of age. He needed us when his previous owners moved out of state without him. Wii is good with other dogs, and reportedly housetrained and fine with mature, kind children. Pug knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption.

Downey is a gem, a precious boy who awaits being discovered. Mistakenly overlooked for months by visitors, as there are often more than 50 other rescued Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes at Nevada SPCA on any given day, we asked Arica at Pet'ographique to capture his endearing personality in a professional portrait. Downey is a very affectionate young Chihuahua & Pug mix, the Pug portions especially evident in his cute underbite and curly-Q tail.  He is neutered and about 2 years of age, great with other dogs. His temperament grows on you, and if you open your heart to him, you'll understand what we mean after just a few minutes of interaction with him. Downey was surrendered to us by his previous owner because she believed he was not good with men.  Our male staff and volunteers have had no trouble with him though. Please visit and ask for Downey by name at the front desk so we can bring him to the lobby to meet you.

Update: Lulu was adopted on December 23rd! Rich with devotion, Lulu is ready to be a loyal, lifelong companion for someone willing and able to return her unconditional love. She is a small Puggle (Pug & Beagle mix), spayed girl, about 5 years of age, debuting for adoption today. Her previous owner left her at a veterinary clinic after finding out that she had bladder stones, unwilling and/or unable to give her the care she needed to get the stones removed and end the excruciating pain.  The clinic contacted us and asked us to please consider saving this sweet girl who otherwise had little hope. We had to act very quickly.  Fortunately, one of our volunteers generously stepped forward to help with her advanced surgery to remove the stones. Lulu has been healing well from the surgery and she is now ready for adoption.  For life, she is on a special diet (Science Diet c/d) to reduce the chances that any further stones will develop. Update: Choo Choo was adopted on February 8th! Choo Choo goes into kissing frenzies when he greets us, his whole body wiggling in jubilation. He is tremendously spunky, and full of immense personality, all sweetness for those he knows and bombastic roars of disapproval at strangers. Choo Choo debuts for adoption today.  He is a super cute blend of multiple breeds, most likely including Miniature Pinscher and Pug and Chihuahua.  He is neutered and about 5 months of age. At the time of rescue as a newborn (and we have conflicting accounts of how he ended up abandoned), we were at full capacity and had no kennels or double crates for him.  So we set up baby gates and fashioned a pen for him near the director's office, where he was raised within feet of rescued rabbits.  His surrogate dad has been a large, tolerant cat named Sebastian who lets him crawl all over him.  In fact, on Choo Choo's first night with us we came in the office to find that Sebastian...

Dawn & Vito Update: Dawn & Vito were adopted on December 15th! Dawn & Vito needed us due to their previous owners' home foreclosure. They are young sweethearts, very friendly and generally well-behaved. Both are Puggles (Pug & Beagle mixes).  Dawn , a girl of 18 months, is reportedly 75% Pug.  Vito , a boy of 3 years, is reportedly 50% Pug.  They are spayed/neutered and debut for adoption today. Dawn & Vito are not only good with dogs, but reportedly compatible with cats and kind children.  They are also housetrained (with a doggie door). They are soul-mates and need to remain together forever.

Brownie's fun-loving attitude about life is contagious. We smile every time we see this bouncy, wiggly boy who has such a sunny demeanor. He is a Puggle (Pug & Beagle), neutered, 5 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. Brownie enjoys other dogs and reportedly loves kind children too.  He is reported to be housetrained and crate-trained. He needed us due to his previous owners' financial hardship.

Update: Pugsley was adopted on September 11th! Pugsley is guaranteed to bring you a lifetime of smiles. He is a jolly, plump boy, full of good cheer. Pugsley is a Puggle (Pug & Beagle mix), neutered, about 6 years of age, debuting for adoption today. He needed us when his previous owner moved from a house into an apartment that does not accept dogs. But Pugsley did nothing wrong. He is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and good with mature kids. Pugsley is very picky though with other dogs and may do best as the only dog in the home.

Update: Bonita was adopted on July 28th! Bonita is bright, sweet little jewel. She is a puppy, Pug & Chihuahua, with a sleek coat and the most adorable round head. Bonita has a loving nature. She is spayed, about 10 months of age, and debuts for adoption today. She needed us due to her previous owner's financial hardship. Besides being compatible with other dogs, she is reportedly fine with older, mature kids. Please remember to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for Bonita's safety and protection.

Update: Micah was adopted on July 27th! Micah is ready to steal your heart, forever. He is an endearing boy, very good-natured and engaging. Micah is a handsome Pug mix, neutered, about 3 years young. Micah needed us due to his previous owner's financial hardship and change in living situation. He is great with other friendly dogs. His previous owner did not leave us any background information to share with you though. Micah debuts for adoption today.

Update: Sinbad was adopted on January 6th! Sinbad's light-hearted personality is exceptionally charming. Chipper and outgoing, he loves to have fun. Sinbad is a small, thin boy with relatively long and slender legs, and a uniquely cute face. We believe he is most likely a mix of Italian Greyhound, Miniature Pinscher, Chihuahua, and Pug. He is neutered and about a year of age. Sinbad needed us when his previous owners moved away without him. He is good with other dogs, and reportedly fine with older children. He is also reportedly crate-trained, but not yet fully housetrained (so your patience and good guidance are needed). Sinbad debuts for adoption today.

Update: Rocco was adopted on April 2nd! Rocco is a bubbly little trooper, friendly and outgoing. He is a handsome Pug, neutered male, about 6 years of age. We rescued Rocco from another shelter. He was there because his previous owners moved into a living situation that did not allow pets. He is well-behaved, compatible with cats and dogs, and reportedly housetrained. Rocco needs daily eyedrops due to chronic dry eye, so please only consider him if you can diligently provide this routine attention for him. Rocco debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.
