Poppy

Even groomed, Poppy's hair had fun in the great winds today sweeping through Las Vegas. He didn't mind a bit because being held and praised is his top comfort.  Poppy is a gentle "Schnoodle" (Miniature Schnauzer & Poodle mix), 7 years of age and neutered, housetrained & crate-trained, good with dogs and older kids, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Poppy needed us due to his previous owners' financial hardship.

Poppy, a rescued Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog for adoption.

Poppy is gorgeous, shy, and intelligent, and she likes to play fetch.  Her previous owner insisted she is a rare breed -- an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog -- and bred her for puppies.  Now with us, and spayed, she will be a loving companion and family member, not a breeding machine.  Poppy is about 18 months young and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is reportedly housetrained, crate-trained, and good with cats and dogs, but intolerant of young kids.

Is it a big surprise that a dog like me barks?

Update: Poppy was adopted on August 28th! Brace yourself for the superb charm of little Poppy . He is a silly, light-hearted older boy who is ready to share fun and good cheer. Poppy is a precious Shih-Tzu, neutered, 9-10 years of age, debuting for adoption today. Besides being super cute, he is well-behaved, good with small dogs (big dogs frighten him), and reportedly compatible with mature kids, plus housetrained too (with a doggie door). Please plan on regular professional grooming care for Poppy and budget accordingly. The reason he was surrendered to us by his previous owner? He "barks". So, yes, little Poppy barks and eats and sleeps and goes to the bathroom, as expected of any and all canines. Please adopt this sweetheart and show him the power of love and commitment.

My heart aches from being thrown away like trash.

Our volunteers happened to catch a woman sneaking behind a building and dumping two cats out to fend for themselves. She sped away before they could see her license plate, since companion animal abandonment outdoors is both a moral and legal crime, but they were able to capture the cats and bring them to safety at Nevada SPCA. Poppy is now ready for adoption to a loving, forever home. He is a treasure, not trash. Poppy's brother has been adopted, so he now awaits a hero to come for him too. Poppy is an exceptionally handsome London Tabby, neutered male, approximately 3 years of age. He has a curious, inquisitive nature and he gets along well with the other rescued cats. Please come meet Poppy today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. He and 200 other spayed/neutered felines seek committed, indoor-only homes where they will be cherished for a lifetime.
