Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Betsy is expected to give birth this week! Please share her post to help find her an immediate foster home so she can birth and raise her babies in the peace and comfort of a home environment. If you can foster Betsy and her babies for approximately 12 weeks, please visit Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org) in person and ask for Wayne. Betsy is a kind, thoughtful girl, a Shih-Tzu and Poodle mix, about 8 years of age and housetrained. She sometimes favors a hind leg that broke and healed incorrectly long ago.    Betsy needed us when her previous owners moved away without her.

We are so proud of Jenny for trusting us so quickly.  Her personality is blooming beautifully and her fearful shaking has ended.  Jenny is a lovely Poodle & Terrier mix, 8 pounds tiny, spayed girl, 1 year young, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued Jenny from another shelter.  She was so hand-shy, from suspected previous abuse, that they were concerned with putting her into their adoption area.  We were happy to help Jenny and her progress has come sooner than expected.  Jenny enjoys other dogs and needs regular brushing and grooming.

Grace is an adorable puppy who craves attention and she likes to play fetch.  She is a Malti-Poo (Maltese & Poodle mix) wearing a natural tuxedo, spayed girl, 10 months of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety. Grace is reportedly housetrained and good with older, mature kids.  Grace lost her previous home for not getting along with another dog.  But she was not spayed at the time (and she is now spayed) and our experience is that she is compatible with most dogs.  Please plan and budget for regular professional grooming for her.

Bart is now glowing and shining, so full of optimism that he will finally get to know what a loving home feels like.  He is a Bichon Frise & Poodle mix, neutered boy, 5 years of age, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Bart was a filthy, matted mess at the time of rescue, but that neglectful past was shaved away when we had him cleaned and groomed.  Bart enjoys other dogs and needs regular professional grooming.  An adult-only home is strongly preferred.  He is very anxious about being picked up and still recovering emotionally from years of severe neglect.

Saki is a perfectly snuggly baby boy with a bubbly personality.  He is a super cute, chocolate Poodle & Terrier mix, neutered, 3 months young, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Saki has been lovingly raised and socialized in a foster home after being rescued many weeks ago when he was a motherless newborn.  He adores people and delights in covering your chin with kisses galore!

Tasha is a bubbly, comical young lady with the most wonderful, expressive ears!  She is a delightful Poodle, just one year of age, spayed, good with dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please keep her always professional groomed.  Tasha had been the victim of neglect, but now that she is groomed and feeling pretty, she feels on top of the world!!

Bear Bernadette Betty Lou These three playful, adorable, cuddly puppies -- nicknamed " The Beloved Baby Puppies " -- are now 3 months of age, spayed/neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Bear is a boy and his sisters are Bernadette and Betty Lou . They needed us when their previous owner said his Poodle had an "oops" pregnancy with a neighbor's Terrier. We were very happy to rescue the three in exchange for him getting his Poodle neutered. Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection.

Pet'ographique captured Tito Joe's cute, charming nature beautifully in this portrait they donated to help him get adopted into a loving, forever home. Tito Joe is, surprisingly, one of our longest canine residents, overlooked by visitors despite his immense good qualities.  He is a Lhasa Apso & Poodle mix, neutered boy, 7 years of age. He will do best in a gentle home, perhaps with other dogs.  At the time of rescue he was temperamental and grumpy, but he is making improvements with trust.  An adult-only home is still preferred though so he can continue his progress. Please plan on regular professional grooming care for him.  Please ask for Tito Joe by name when you visit Nevada SPCA.

Doogie - before, bed sores Doogie - before, bed sores Doogie on April 14 What a valiant, inspirational recovery this boy has made! At the time of rescue Doogie was a matted mess of skin and bones.  When we shaved away the filthy knots, we discovered large, painful bed sores on both of his hips.  He was so weak he could barely stand up or lift his head. Fast-forward three months, and thanks to tender loving care, Doogie is now a robust, playful, affectionate little guy ready for adoption into a loving home. He is a Poodle mix, neutered, 5-6 years of age, compatible with other dogs, and he adores people. His soulful eyes speak volumes.  Please help us ensure he never sees the reckless, cruel side of human nature again.

Arabella - before Arabella - after Bernadette - before Bernadette - after Gabriella - before Gabriella - after These three gentle girls suffered years of unconscionable neglect in their previous home.  They were surrendered to us for rescue only upon imminent fear of prosecution for animal cruelty. Previously unloved, they arrived with dimmed spirits and no hope of ever having much human contact.  We shaved them down and had them professionally groomed, revealing the little angels under the filth and knots in their old coats. Arabella and Gabriella are most likely Poodle & Terrier mixes, ages 5 and 3, respectively.  Bernadette is a Wheaton Terrier mix, 5 years of age.  All three girls are now spayed and ready for adoption. We seek loving, forever homes where they will know every day that they are cherished and adored. We are proud of all three girls.  They are building trust and the sparkles are beginning to return to their eyes....

Cupid and Domino Bruiser and Sheila Update: Cupid, Domino, and Sheila were adopted on February 18th! With personalities so sugary-sweet and soft, we just had to nickname these darling babies " The Marshmallow Puppies ". Their story is a triumph on many levels.  We rescued them shortly before Christmas from one of the filthiest, dirtiest crates we have ever seen.  They were stuffed inside with both their mom and dad.   It was clear all 6 had been existing in the crate for weeks.   (Note: Their father, Sherman , a Poodle mix, was featured on this site previously and you can read his profile by doing a search at top left). Their mom, Lilly (a small Spaniel mix), and the puppies lived in a cozy section of a Nevada SPCA staff office for extra attention and monitoring.  Their dad was neutered and adopted in early January. When Lilly reached 9 weeks she was separated from her puppies and spayed.  The wonderful couple who adopted Sherman, and...

Update: Flash was adopted on February 11th! At the time of rescue Flash was horrendously matted and filthy.  We could not see his face because of the knots.  Only extremely severe neglect for at least an entire year could have resulted in such a condition.  (His previous owner, if found, would surely be subject to cruelty charges.) Flash's transformation is going beautifully!  He has been groomed and neutered, his nails have been trimmed, he is eating nutritious premium food, bonding with people and dogs, and awakening to the realization that his future will be one full of love. He is a Poodle & Schnauzer mix, approximately 3 years young, and he triumphantly debuts for adoption today. Flash is understandably reserved, at least initially with new people, but his eyes are beginning to sparkle. Update: Lexington was adopted on February 7th! Lexington stands on his hind legs to make sure you understand he is ready to be held and adored. His underbite is as cute as his behaviors.  We believe he is a Pekingese & Shih-Tzu & Poodle mix.  He is a neutered boy, about 2 years young, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please plan on regular professional grooming care and budget accordingly. Besides loving people, Lexington relishes the company of other friendly dogs.  Otherwise, his background is mostly unknown, as we rescued him from another shelter that ran out of space.

Update: Vanilla Bean was adopted on December 18th! Vanilla Bean is a precious youngster, still a puppy at 9 months of age, who will do best in a quiet, stable home. Though shy with strangers, he is very loving and warm with those he knows and trusts. Vanilla Bean is reportedly a Malti-Poo (Maltese & Poodle mix).  He is a neutered boy, debuting for adoption today. He needed us because someone in his previous home was allergic to him. Vanilla Bean is great with friendly dogs and he is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and fine with older children. Please puppy-proof your home for his safety and plan on regular professional grooming care for him.

Coco Oreia Update 2: Coco was adopted on November 26th! Update: Oreia was adopted on November 24th! Coco and Oreia are very pretty baby sisters with tender souls. These girls debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  They are reportedly Doxie-Poos (Dachshund & Poodle mixes), spayed, about 6 months of age. Coco and Oreia can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting them together for lifelong love and companionship. They need regular grooming care and your patience and good guidance to complete housetraining.  (A steady lifestyle routine is the foundation for housetraining.) The girls are as sweet as they look and compatible with friendly dogs and older, mature kids. They needed us due to their previous owners' financial hardship. Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety and protection.

Update: Ghost was adopted on October 15th! Ghost's soul is on the mend. But progress needs to continue with his new owner in an experienced, adult-only home. We believe someone hurt him, physically, and probably screaming too, so he can get very nervous with strangers, and nippy if he believes more harm may come his way. Ghost is an attractive Poodle & Bichon Frise mix, neutered male, about 5 years of age. He is a passionate, energetic boy, full of tremendous loving potential. Ghost is good with other dogs, and we believe another dog (or dogs) in the home will help him adjust and follow the lead of a 'big sister' or 'big brother'. Please plan on regular grooming care and plan accordingly.

Update: Karen was adopted on September 16th! Our hearts melted instantly for Karen . Her previous owner wore a designer handbag and clothes, but said she could not afford to care for this young dog. Karen is a tender-hearted girl with the warmest brown eyes that accurately reflect her gentle nature. Karen is reportedly a Doxie-Poo (Dachshund & Poodle mix). She is spayed, 2 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. She enjoys other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care.

Update: Nina was adopted on August 14th! Nina is a gorgeous puppy debuting for adoption today. She is a sensitive, delicate girl who craves love and attention. Nina is most likely a Poodle & Maltese mix. She is spayed and about 4 months of age. Besides adoring people, she loves other sweet dogs. Please plan on regular grooming care (budgeting extra accordingly) and guidance to help her complete housetraining. Inconceivably, Nina's previous owner banished her to living outside on a balcony at night. Please note she has a piercing scream when anxious or fearful. Her serious, dramatic side should diminish as she gains security and self-confidence.

Update: Roxy was adopted on August 12th! Exceptionally endearing, Roxy has a gentle way about her and a loving nature. She is most likely a Toy Poodle & Maltese mix. She is spayed, one year young, and debuting for adoption today. Roxy needed us when her previous owner moved into an apartment that did not allow pets. Besides being good with other dogs, she is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and compatible with older, mature kids. Please plan on regular professional grooming care for Roxy and budget extra accordingly. She reportedly enjoys playing with tennis balls. We know she adores cuddling with kind, tender-hearted people.

Chaz is an angelic little treasure. But he was treated more like trash in his previous home, severely neglected, accumulating knots and tangles and filth. We shaved Chaz down and had him groomed, readying him for a new start, for a life full of promise. He has a sedate, reserved personality at the moment, but we know he will blossom as he gains self-esteem. Chaz is a Toy Poodle, neutered male, 2 years of age. Please plan on regular professional grooming care for him and budget extra accordingly. Chaz is good with other sweet dogs. He debuts for adoption today.
