Coby

Image
"I want you to know I love you." Coby , 10, a resplendent Pekingese with an angelic spirit, offers infinite devotion.    He is housetrained, good with cats & dogs & older kids, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA .    Coby has partial vision (a shrunken left eye and a cloudy right eye) and gets around quite well, even at night, by memorizing the lay-out of his living areas.    He needed us when his previous owners moved away without him.

Gustav

Gustav , a friendly Pekingese, treasures peaceful moments with you in your home and yard.  He is 4 years of age, housetrained, good with dogs and older kids, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA .  Gustav is on daily epilepsy medication to diminish the frequency and severity of seizures. (Fortunately, the medication is generally inexpensive and highly effective.)  Please share Gustav's post to help find him a hero for life.

I am as gentle as a baby, yet wise and well-behaved.

Adopting senior dogs, like Cricket , can bring unsuspecting emotional rewards, along with immense gratitude and unconditional love.  Cricket was at another shelter and needed dental cleaning.  We rescued him, had his teeth cleaned (and one extraction), and he is now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Cricket is a mellow Pekingese, about 10 years of age, neutered boy, and good with other dogs.  We love his sweet soul.  Please plan and budget for regular professional grooming care for Cricket .

Will you please take me home?

Brewster loves being cradled in your arms when you give him belly rubs.  He is a very attractive Pekingese, 7 years of age, neutered boy, now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Brewster is reportedly housetrained and crate-trained.  He is shy with strangers and believed to have been previously abused.  Brewster gets along with most dogs, but can get testy and irritable around other dogs at times.  The injury that cost him his left eye is believed to be the result of a bite from another dog.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for this sweet portrait to help him find a loving, forever home.

I could only relax once I knew I was safe.

Bambi is a tender-hearted, petite girl who is so confused about the roller coaster she has been on the past few days.  But she is safe now and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Bambi is an adorable Pekingese, 1 year young, spayed, and good with other dogs.  She was surrendered to another shelter, apparently for chewing.  (However, chewing is natural and necessary for dogs, especially those younger than 18 months.)  The shelter she was at asked Nevada SPCA to rescue her because she was so terrified and shy.  Volunteers and staff are working their magic and Bambi is gaining self-esteem and confidence.  Please help us find a loving, forever home for Bambi .

Every day is like a picnic.

For Dawn , a cheery and light-hearted girl, life is like a picnic.  Pet'ographique captured her personality beautifully in this brand new portrait to help Dawn find a loving, forever home.  She is a Peke-A-Poo (Pekingese & Poodle), about 5 years of age, spayed, housetrained, crate-trained, good with dogs and older kids, and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Dawn's previous owner said she just could no longer take care of her.

Pick me up and snuggle with me.

Update: Lexington was adopted on February 7th! Lexington stands on his hind legs to make sure you understand he is ready to be held and adored. His underbite is as cute as his behaviors.  We believe he is a Pekingese & Shih-Tzu & Poodle mix.  He is a neutered boy, about 2 years young, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please plan on regular professional grooming care and budget accordingly. Besides loving people, Lexington relishes the company of other friendly dogs.  Otherwise, his background is mostly unknown, as we rescued him from another shelter that ran out of space.

I love sleeping on a pillow in a basket under a cozy blanket.

Update: Duncan was adopted on January 21st! Duncan is hoping for a nurturing person who will pamper and cherish him every day. He is a senior Pekingese, homeless at 12 years of age due to his previous owners moving into an apartment that does not allow dogs. Duncan is neutered, housetrained (with a doggie door), compatible with cats and dogs and mature children, and he debuts for adoption today. He likes taking short walks and playing in water.  (If his ears look a bit wet in this portrait it is because he had just been playing with his water bowl.) Pekingese knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption.  Please plan on regular professional grooming care for him. Adopting a senior can provide untold emotional rewards to you and they have just as much unconditional love as puppies .

I am so proud of how well I am adjusting.

Update: James was adopted on December 30th! James sports a sunny nature that suits him beautifully. He is an attractive Pekingese, neutered male, about 4 years of age. We rescued James from another shelter and he had a very severe left eye injury that had hemorrhaged.  We asked a veterinary hospital to try and save his eye, but this was not possible and his eye was removed. James has been healing very well, physically and emotionally.  Living in the moment, full of joy for life, he never seemed to fret about all of the challenges. He is compatible with other friendly dogs and needs regular professional grooming care. Please come visit and ask to meet James by name.

I am ready to love you.

Update: Lula was adopted on December 3rd! Lula is an easy-going, calm-natured, contented little lady debuting for adoption today. She is a Pekingese, spayed female, about 5 years of age. Lula needed us after she was abandoned at a local veterinary hospital. She is good with other friendly dogs and needs regular professional grooming care. Lula is a bit plump.  We suggest less "table scraps" and consulting with your veterinarian on a nutritious weight management food or diet plan. Please ask for her by name when you visit.

Will our futures be full of love and tenderness?

Dewy, Stewy, Lewy, and Huey Update 2: Dewy, Lewy, and Stewy were adopted on October 25th! Update: Huey was adopted on October 23rd! These precious baby boys debut for adoption today. You may remember their momma, Curly Sue , who was previously featured on this site.  (She is pictured at the bottom of this post.)  She was rescued off the streets the day before giving birth to four babies, named Dewy, Huey, Lewy, and Stewy . Mom and boys were placed in foster care for loving attention and nurturing.  Curly Sue was spayed and adopted earlier this month.  She is a Pekingese and we do not know who their father is, so while they look like purebreed Pekingese puppies we cannot say this for sure. Curly Sue's puppies are now neutered and ready for adoption.  They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair for lifelong companionship. The boys are very even-tempered, sensitive, and gentle.  They will need regular professional groom...

I am young at heart.

Update: Marti was adopted on December 11th! Cheery and outgoing, Marti is a senior with youthful bombast. He is a distinguished Pekingese, neutered, approximately 10 years of age. We rescued Marti from another shelter, so our information on him is limited.  But we know he was surrendered there along with Kerry , a Pomeranian mix who was featured on this site earlier this month. Marti enjoys other dogs and he is very pleasant and loving with people too.  Please plan on regular professional grooming care for him and budget extra accordingly. He is on lifelong medication, thyroxine, for low thyroid levels.  We are sending home with a generous supply and you will need to consult your veterinarian for refills. Pekingese knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption.

I was rescued the day before I gave birth to 5 puppies.

Update: Curly Sue was adopted on October 2nd! Though it is never a good time to lose your family, Curly Sue was abandoned at the time of her greatest need. Upon rescue, she was pregnant and so large we knew that the birth of her babies was imminent.  We were able to place her in a foster home and she gave birth to 4 puppies the very next day. Curly Sue's babies are thriving, still in foster care until they are old enough to be spayed/neutered and prepared for adoption. But Curly Sue is now spayed and ready for adoption into a forever home today.  She is a lovely Pekingese, just a baby herself really at 2 years of age. Curly Sue has a tender spirit and eyes that seem to reveal wisdom and serenity.   She is fine with other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care.  Her foster mom says that she is housetrained (with a doggie door). Pekingese knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption.

They say I am cuter than a cartoon!

Artie is a very animated little boy with radiant eyes and a robust smile. He was at another shelter that had run out of space to keep him, so we rescued him, and he debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Artie is a fun-loving Pekingese mix, neutered, and approximately 5 years of age. He enjoys other friendly dogs and needs regular brushing and grooming care.

Adopt me and I will kiss you in gratitude every day.

Update: Logan was adopted on August 21st! Logan has a guilty pleasure -- he LOVES cheetos! After rescuing him from another shelter, one of our staff members was driving him to Nevada SPCA. He demanded to share the chips she was snacking on and could not get enough of them. Logan is a Pekingese, neutered male, 2 years young, debuting for adoption today. He is exceptionally affectionate, full of kisses. Besides adoring people, Logan enjoys other sweet dogs. He needs regular professional grooming care, so please budget extra accordingly. Pekingese knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption. He has an old eye injury, but does not need medications at this time.

I need a loving forever home, please.

Update: Jessie was adopted on July 31st! Beaming with joy, sunshine seems to follow Jessie wherever he goes. Jessie is a very handsome Pekingese, neutered male, 4 yrs of age. Jessie is one of a couple of Pekingeses we rescued from another shelter that had run out of space for dogs. He adores people and enjoys other good-natured dogs. Please be sure to budget extra for regular professional grooming care for Jessie. Pekingese knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption. Jessie debuts for adoption today.

Please be sure I never feel unloved or become neglected ever again.

Update: Bryce was adopted on July 9th! When we rescued Bryce from another shelter he was matted and filthy, indicating many months of severe neglect. But underneath the knots and tangles emerged an angel. Bryce is friendly, cheery, playful, and exceptionally cute. He is a tri-color Pekingese, neutered male, approximately 2 years of age. Bryce enjoys other sweet dogs and needs regular professional grooming care, so please budget extra accordingly. We do not have much background information on him, except that he was apparently surrendered due to being incompatible with small children.

Perhaps I am too cute for my own good, but in an adult home I will shine.

Update: Snow was adopted on July 26th! Snow is an adorable youngster, usually cheery and very good-natured. But this little boy can sometimes get temperamental, most likely because this was mistakenly allowed in his previous home. With an experienced owner in an adult-only home, Snow should quickly catch on to which behaviors are proper and will be tolerated. Snow is a white Pekingese, neutered male, 3 years of age. He debuts for adoption today. Besides getting along with other dogs, Snow is reportedly housetrained. Please plan on and budget for regular professional grooming care for him. Snow needed us when his previous owner moved away without him.

Perhaps I will admit to wanting you all for myself.

Update: Coda is in medical treatment and we hope to have him back in Adoptions next week. Coda lost his home due to being "too dominant" with another Pekingese. He is a gallant, handsome youngster debuting for adoption today. Coda is a Pekingese, neutered male, just a year of age. He is generally well-behaved, being housetrained & crate-trained, and good with older, gentle children. Please plan on regular grooming care for Coda and budget extra accordingly.

Adopt me and I can share peace-of-mind with you.

Update: Cubear was adopted on January 20th! Cubear (pronounced "Q"-bear) is a calm, exceptionally handsome, and contented youngster. He is a Pekingese with stunning coloring, neutered male, about 18 months of age. He debuts for adoption today. Please be sure to plan for regular grooming care (and budget extra accordingly). Cubear is well-behaved. Besides being housetrained and crate-trained, he is good with other dogs and mature, kind children. He needed us because his owner was deployed overseas to fight for our country. We believe Cubear will do best in a gentle home.
