Nevada SPCA Animal Rescue

Every day is so precious. We are especially reminded of this when those we love may have shortened lifespans. Mia , a tiny lovebug puppy, weighing only 4 pounds, 8 months of age, loves being held and reassured. Talk sweet and she will lay her head against your neck and chest.    She is a Chihuahua, good with cats and dogs, and ready for a hero adoption at Nevada SPCA . Mia was born with a mild case of hydrocephalus (neurological disorder in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain). She may live without suffering for many years, or for just several months, as her veterinarians cannot predict her future well-being.    Please help us find a hero to cheerfully shower Mia with love and adoration for however many days/weeks/months/years she has to grace us with.

Butch Fabienne Mia Fabienne , Mia , and Butch are 3 of the 25 rescued kittens who will be ready for adoption tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 10am at Nevada SPCA! All 25 kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. Fabienne, Mia , and Butch have been raised in a loving foster home. We rescued their mother (Raquel) and siblings too. (Raquel will be ready for adoption in the days to come.)    The kittens are now 3 months of age and enjoy the company of people, cats, and small dogs.

Forget taking pictures, Mia insisted this morning was the perfect time for belly tickles.  Now well, Mia is overflowing with enthusiasm and triumphantly debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is a wiggly, roly-poly Staffordshire Terrier mix, spayed girl, 5 years of age.  Mia adores people and gets along well with some dogs too.  At the time of rescue her life was in peril from a uterine infection (pyometra).  Thank you to the donors to Nevada SPCA's advanced care fund who made her beautiful recovery possible.

Blitz Bonnie Clyde Madison Mia Sage At the time of rescue these puppies were newborns at another shelter and had lost their mother.  They needed urgent, immediate care. We rescued them and placed them in nurturing foster homes for bottle-feeding, socialization, and other vital care.  Now, months later, " The Outlaw Puppies " are 3 months of age, spayed/neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Please puppy-proof your homes and yards for their safety. Blitz and Clyde are boys.  Bonnie , Madison , Mia , and Sage are girls.  All six are rambunctiously playful, well socialized, and full of pep and spirit. We expect The Outlaw Puppies to grow to medium or large size.  They are a blend of many breeds, perfectly cute and unique. They can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair for lifelong companionship. 

Mia yearns for a quieter home with a tender-hearted person (or couple) to help her feel safe and secure. She is a very pretty, petite girl with a gentle spirit. We rescued Mia from another shelter that had run out of space to keep her. She is a Chihuahua, spayed, 5 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. Mia likes other calm dogs and may do best in a home with another dog (or dogs).

Update: Mia was adopted on January 6th! Mia is a cheery, flamboyant, and well-behaved little lady. She is a Beagle mix, medium-sized, spayed, and about 4 years of age. Mia is reportedly housetrained, crate-trained, and compatible with cats and dogs and older children. She is a very social girl and wants to be included in as many family activities as possible. Mia needed us due to her previous owner's financial collapse. She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Addendum: Mia lost her latest home reportedly due to separation anxiety. Sadly, this distress is not uncommon for animals (and people) who are repeatedly abandoned and rejected by the ones they love. The anxiety can diminish with time and a steady routine, and you can implement helpful tips from staff and dog trainers, but there is no instant fix, so a very patient and understanding home is needed for her.

Update: Mia was adopted on July 21st! Mia is a gorgeous, loyal, intelligent, and well-behaved girl. She is most likely a Belgian & German Shepherd mix, spayed female, approximately 4 years of age. She knows basic training commands and she is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and crate-trained. Mia was surrendered to Nevada SPCA due to her food aggression, which most likely was the result of her experiencing starvation and fear of death earlier in her life. This behavior was reportedly displayed around children (through nips and warnings, not bites) and other animals. Food aggression can be successfully tackled in an experienced, adult-only home with the help of a dog training program. With this professional guidance, Mia will undoubtedly be an exceptional companion and family member. She looks into the eyes of those she likes and trusts and you can see that she is full of love and desperately wants you to be happy with her.
