Pirate & Penzance

Image
Pirate & Penzance are young swashbucklers with jolly spirits! The boys are reportedly Miniature Pinscher & Beagle mixes, 1-2 years of age and neutered, good with kids, housetrained, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Pirate & Penzance are fine with other dogs, as long as they are fed separately. They cannot be around cats. Pirate & Penzance were at another shelter that ran out of space.  They are bonded for life. If separated, even by a gate, they will stand toward each other on their hind legs until reunited. Pirate's left eye is missing, but we have no information on what caused the loss. He has adjusted fine to life with one eye.

Lillian

Image
Lillian is recovering from starvation and cruelty.    She screams if you reach for her too fast.    She is eating heartily, premium food, and climbing up with body tissue and energy from the 28 pounds she weighed at the time of rescue (from another shelter). Lillian is a medium-size Heinz 57, perhaps with Beagle & Retriever, 1 year young and spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    She had reportedly been out on the streets, trying to survive on her own.    Please share Lillian's post to help find an experienced, adult-only home and lifelong hero.

Rebel

Image
Rebel is a social Puggle (Pug & Beagle mix) who enjoys being included in all of the family activities. He is good with cats, children, and dogs, plus housetrained & crate-trained.  Rebel is about 7 years of age, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He needed us when his previous owners moved away without him.  Please visit and ask for Rebel by name.

Maxmillian

Image
Maxmillian , 9, is a jolly boy asking for a hero and a leisurely lifestyle.  Due to birth defects with his front paws, he can only walk short distances.  Maxmillian needed us when his previous owner passed away.  He is a Basset Hound & Beagle mix, housetrained & crate-trained, good with cats & dogs & kids, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Maxmillian's toys must be large and indestructible (because he reportedly tries to eat and swallow them).  Please help find someone wonderful for him!

Bay

Image
Bay, just 8 months of age, worries that people don't like her.  We are working on helping her build self-esteem so she will understand she is worthy of love.  Bay is a junior puppy, medium-size Heinz 57 with Beagle & Mini Bully, spayed girl, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  We rescued Bay from another shelter that asked for our help due to her timidity.

Penelope's puppies are ready for adoption!

Image
Anthony Christine Raylynn Ricardo Penelope, prior to her adoption Penelope's babies -- daughters Christine and Raylynn and sons Anthony and Ricardo -- debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  All four love to snuggle. They are tiny, but strong-willed and fearless. Penelope was pregnant when we rescued her in January. She had been abandoned at a veterinary clinic. Shortly after placing her into foster care she gave birth. She raised and socialized her puppies in a wonderful foster home with cats and other animals. Penelope's babies are now nearing 4 months of age and they are spayed/neutered. Penelope has already been spayed and adopted. She is a small blend of Dachshund, Beagle, and Cavalier Spaniel. The father of the puppies is unknown. Please consider adopting a pair for lifelong love and companionship.

Ariel and Aubree.

Image
Ariel Ariel Aubree Aubree Ariel and Aubree , the 4th and 5th of the 33 rescued dogs, are among the smallest at just 25 lbs and 27 lbs. Both are adjusting and improving nicely and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Their dozens of siblings and cousins will be ready in the days and weeks to come based on their emotional progress and spay/neuter surgeries. As you may recall, the 33 dogs were confiscated from squalor and witnessed horrors. Their previous owner was convicted of animal cruelty. Here is the original post about them with more detail. Ariel and Aubree both love treats! We are glad that they have such hearty appetites. They were frightened of us at first, but they now allow us to handle and cuddle them without fear of panic attacks. They are medium-size Heinz 57 mixes with Whippet, Beagle, Mini Bully, and more breeds, 3 years of age and now spayed. Both girls need heroes and get along fine with other dogs (th...

Spencer

Image
Spencer's earnest, pleading eyes melt our hearts. He desperately wants someone to love. Spencer is a calm-natured, cream Dachshund & Beagle mix, 1 year young, neutered boy, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    The person who found Spencer on the streets (with no sign of responsible ownership) briefly had him in her home after capturing him and noted that he appears to be housetrained and crate-trained.

Teenie

Image
Teenie , a soulful young girl, longs for peace-of-mind and someone to love. She is a small (10 pounds) Heinz 57 with Beagle and Chihuahua, 2 years of age, spayed, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Teenie was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her timidity. She is head-shy and scared of strangers, but warms nicely to soft-spoken people who offer her kindness. Please visit and ask for her by name.

Abigail

Image
Abigail's new portraits, courtesy of the wonderful Pet'ographique , beautifully capture her hope and goodness. She is a gentle Beagle, about 12 years of age and spayed, great with other dogs, and awaiting adoption at Nevada SPCA. Seniors like Abigail offer immense gratitude, in addition to unconditional love, so people often comment on the rich emotional rewards that come with welcoming older animals into their hearts and lives.

Cuddle me and tell me that I can always count on you.

Benny cannot see you, so a gentle touch and soothing words means the world to him.  He is a great cuddler and craves the reassurance he gets from leaning against you.  Benny is a sweet Beagle, about 6 years of age, neutered boy, debuting for adoption today at Nevada.  Benny is blind, so please take extra precautions puppy-proofing your home and helping him become familiar with your home and yard.  An experienced, adult home is needed.  We rescued Benny from another shelter.

Peanut Butter

Image
Peanut Butter has been awaiting this special day for months -- her debut for adoption! -- while healing from severe wounds on her back and side from dog attacks.  The veterinarian who confiscated her from an abysmal situation said that there were numerous other dogs in the home who had repeatedly attacked her.  Peanut Butter is a lovely, friendly little lady, a Beagle, spayed, 6 years of age.  Please come meet and adopt her at Nevada SPCA.

I am a sunny Beagle with a puppy-like temperament.

Autumn is a sunny, cheery girl with a ready smile. She is a beautiful tri-color Beagle, spayed, 4 years of age. Though mostly puppy-like in temperament, Autumn is serious about food. Perhaps due to previous starvation, she has food aggression from fear of going hungry. This behavior can diminish with time and patience in an experienced, adult-only home. Special thanks to Pet'ographique for these amazing portraits to help get Autumn adopted into a loving, forever home.

They say I am a lovely gem.

Suzy Q is a friendly, enthusiastic wiggle-worm awaiting a forever home. She is a beautiful Beagle, spayed girl, 3 years young.  Besides enjoying people and dogs, she is reportedly housetrained and crate-trained. This portrait, courtesy of Pet'ographique , captures her sweet spirit perfectly.

I was screaming because I was hurting.

Drama is a tiny little angel who insists on tons of attention and adoration and reassurance. She is a beautiful blend of breeds, perhaps a Beagle & Chihuahua mix.  She is spayed and about 6 months of age. Drama was surrendered to us due to her "screaming".  But her listlessness concerned us that she was ill, and sure enough she tested positive for the deadly parvo virus. We rushed her into emergency medical care at a veterinary hospital.  After extensive treatment, she made a full recovery. Regular readers of this site may have noticed that we have been rescuing an increasing number of puppies, like Drama , who are arriving very ill and in urgent need of advanced medical care.  These precious lives are in the most dire of need and we deeply thank all of you who step forward to donate and help us save them. Drama is now ready for adoption.  We believe she will do best in a gentle home environment, showered with loving care. Please be sure to ca...

Perhaps you just saved an angel.

Update: Juicy was adopted on February 25th! At the time of rescue Juicy was very sick with the deadly parvo virus. Thanks to the generosity of compassionate people like you, we were able to provide her with the advanced medical care she needed at a veterinary hospital.   After extensive treatment, Juicy made a full recovery. We love Juicy's bubbly, jubilant personality and zest for life. She is a lovely Beagle mix puppy, spayed girl, about 7 months of age. Please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her protection. To help save innocent lives in desperate need, like Juicy , please donate online to Nevada SPCA .  Thank you.

My trust is precious.

Update: Rusty was adopted on February 22nd! Rusty is an especially endearing boy. He is eager to please, but wary of strangers.  Once he knows you, he is warm and friendly. Rusty is a handsome Beagle mix, neutered, about 4 years of age, debuting for adoption today. We rescued him from a government-funded shelter that ran out of space. Rusty is terrific with other sweet dogs.  Please come meet him and spend time with him in our adoption courtyard.

Can you make time for me?

Update: Little Peanut was adopted on January 29th! We cannot overemphasize enough how wonderful this baby girl is and how much love she has to share with a new, committed owner. Little Peanut is a petite, tri-color Beagle with mesmerizing eyes, spayed, about 8 months of age, debuting for adoption today. Besides enjoying other dogs, she is reportedly housetrained, crate-trained. Little Peanut needed us because her previous owner did not feel he had enough time for her. We recommend basic dog training to help her continue to channel her energy into good behavior.

How can I find someone who will stick with me forever?

Update: Maxmillian was adopted on January 15th! Maxmillian's personality is every bit as cute as his floppy ears. We love how good natured he is with people and other dogs. Maxmillian is still a puppy, about 10 months of age.  He is a Beagle mix (supposedly with French Bulldog, which is what his previous owner said she was told at the time she bought him from a breeder). Maxmillian needed us when his previous owner moved without him. He is reportedly housetrained and enjoys playing with tennis balls and rope toys. Maxmillian debuts for adoption today.

I am a cuddlebug.

Update: Kandi Cane was adopted on December 24th! Kandi Cane is a world-class snuggler.  She is gently affectionate and very warm-hearted with tender people. She is a petite, beautiful Beagle, spayed girl, about 3 years young, debuting for adoption today on Christmas Eve. Kandi Cane enjoys other dogs, especially calm ones, and Beagle experience and/or knowledge is preferred for her adoption. She needed us when her previous owners lost the family home to foreclosure.
