Baxter pleads for someone to love.    He needed us when his previous owner became homeless and he doesn't understand what happened. Baxter is a bashful Chi-Weenie (Chihuahua & Dachshund mix), neutered boy, 8 years of age, housetrained, good with other dogs, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.     He feels most comfortable around quiet and older people, but he is fine with mature kids who he realizes are kind too.

Baxter politely asks you to consider accepting his lifelong, unconditional devotion. He is eager to love. The power of a fresh start and knowing that someone believes in you.  When we rescued Baxter from another shelter he was terrified and it was clear he had endured years in a loveless, neglectful, and abusive home.  Baxter is a Shih-Tzu mix, 5 years of age and neutered, good with other dogs, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is still fearful of being hurt, but making progress emotionally every day.  Baxter needs a hero who will help him continue to improve and reach his full potential.  Grooming courtesy of the very kind people at Hair of the Dog spa .

Baxter is a gentle giant, an 18-pound lovebug compatible with kids and dogs, and he's great with other cats.  We love his easy-going temperament.  Baxter is an orange tabby, reportedly 12 years of age, neutered boy, previously declawed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  His previous owners surrendered him right before they moved and he was in terrible, matted condition.  As you can see, we had to have him shaved to the skin for a fresh start.  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing his incredibly sweet spirit in this portrait to help him find a responsible, stable, loving, forever home.

Update: Baxter was adopted on February 10th! Baxter is a bright-eyed youngster who is all about having fun, perhaps with a bit of mischief, and he sports a sparkling personality. He is a blue & tan Chihuahua mix with a white lightning bolt, neutered boy, about 2 years young. We rescued Baxter from a government-funded shelter, so his background is mostly a mystery.  But we know he loves playtime and he is compatible with other friendly dogs. Betty Lou Karina Baxter Update 3: Karina was adopted on December 23rd! Update 2: Baxter was adopted on December 22nd! Update: Betty Lou was adopted on December 6th! Loving care is healing these three angels. They debut for adoption today, separately, as each is from a different background.  But each is overcoming human cruelty, and survived to get this opportunity to see the kinder side of people, hopefully in forever homes.  Their progress needs to continue with their new owners. Betty Lou is a Miniature Poodle with a sensitive, reserved nature.  At the time of rescue, one of her eyes was swollen shut with infection, her neck was injured, she was very underweight, and her white coat was a mass of filthy brown tangles and knots.  Now shaved down, well from infection, and more, she is unrecognizable from how she previously looked and felt.  She is spayed and about 3 years of age. Update: Baxter was adopted on August 27th! Baxter adores kind children. He is a happy, cheery boy, a tad shy with new people but outgoing with those he knows. Baxter is reportedly a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel & Cocker Spaniel mix. He is neutered, about 6 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. He is a well-behaved sweetheart, compatible with friendly dogs and housetrained (with a doggie door). Please plan on regular professional grooming care and budget extra accordingly. (We had him groomed for today's big debut.) Spaniel knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption. Baxter needed us when his previous owner lost the family home to foreclosure.

Update: Baxter was adopted on August 16th! Baxter needed us when his previous owner passed away and he had nowhere else safe to go. He is a charming, loving, bright boy with a cheery nature. Baxter is a Pomeranian mix with million-dollar smiles. He is neutered, approximately 8 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. Keep him looking good by planning on regular grooming care.
