Despite a young life full of horror, Babycakes believes in the goodness of people and shines brilliantly when you greet her with a smile. Babycakes has heart-melting charm and she is eager to begin her new life. She is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier with a Basset Hound-like body, 1 year of age, now spayed and debuting for adoption at Nevada SPCA . Babycakes trots joyfully at your side on walks. She loves to hug and gaze into your eyes adoringly. At the time of rescue she was at another shelter that asked for our help due to her extensive head and body wounds (from dog attacks) and crude ear maiming.     Babycakes has been healing well and her scars will always be a reminder of what she once endured when someone betrayed her innocence and unconditional devotion.

Casey believes in human goodness and eagerly awaits someone she can love and adore forever. Casey is a charming Basset Hound, 7 years of age, spayed girl, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org).    She is housetrained and good with mature kids.    Casey's previous owner said she gets along well with dogs her size and larger, but gets irritated with Toy breed-sized dogs.

Maxmillian , 9, is a jolly boy asking for a hero and a leisurely lifestyle.  Due to birth defects with his front paws, he can only walk short distances.  Maxmillian needed us when his previous owner passed away.  He is a Basset Hound & Beagle mix, housetrained & crate-trained, good with cats & dogs & kids, neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Maxmillian's toys must be large and indestructible (because he reportedly tries to eat and swallow them).  Please help find someone wonderful for him!

Mr. French was wandering the streets of Las Vegas with no sign of responsible ownership (no ID tag, no microchip ID, not neutered).  Worse, he had been beaten, and he was terrified every new person he encountered might hurt him too.  Mr. French is a handsome young Basset Hound, 2 years of age, now neutered and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  He is very slow to trust and his emotional recovery will take time and patience in an experienced, adult-only home with a stable lifestyle routine.  Please help Mr. French find a hero to ensure that he continues seeing only the best of human nature from now on.

Please help Allen find a hero.  This exceptionally sweet old boy was found abandoned near one of the busiest intersections in Las Vegas with no sign of responsible ownership.  Allen is a calm-natured, gentle Basset Hound, approximately 12 years of age, neutered boy, good with other dogs, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He longs for kindness and he's so grateful for every caring word and gesture. 

Festive and radiant, Sandy is blessed with a beautifully unique appearance and cheery personality. She is a Basset Hound & Collie mix, just 2 years of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Sandy loves kids and adults.  She is good with dogs and reportedly compatible with cats too.  She needs your kind guidance to complete housetraining.  (Her previous owner admitted to making her exclusively outdoors, which is unacceptable.)  She needs to live predominantly indoors as a cherished member of the family.

Coco is an inquisitive, very lovable boy debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is a handsome Basset Hound, neutered, approximately 7 years of age, and he enjoys other friendly dogs.  Please note that Coco needs a daily digestive aid (a pancreatic enzyme concentrate) due to pancreatic insufficiency.  His medications though are a small price to pay in comparison to the universe of unconditional love he his ready to offer you in exchange for a forever home.

Update: Sir Charles was adopted on October 22nd! His eyes say it all. Sir Charles is pleading to be loved, to be cherished. He had been dumped at a local veterinary clinic and had nowhere to go.  He had no collar, ID tag, or micro-chip ID, and had not yet been neutered.  Making matters worse, he was suffering from a large tumor in his right ear and severe dental decay. We rescued him, had the tumor removed, had him neutered, and had his teeth cleaned.  We named him Sir Charles because he has a regal, noble aura. Sir Charles is gentle and easy-going.  He just yearns for love and acceptance, worried that at 10 years of age he will be readily disregarded by potential adopters.   He is compatible with other calm dogs.  Basset Hound knowledge and/or experience is preferred for his adoption.

Update: Harley was adopted on September 23rd! Volunteers and staff agree that Harley is one of the most handsome Basset Hounds we can remember seeing. He is friendly too, though equipped better for a gentle lifestyle. New people, especially adult men, make him anxious, though he warms up brilliantly with those he knows and trusts. Harley is a tri-color, 4 years of age, and debuting for adoption today. Basset Hound knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred, particularly due to the ear-cleaning needs of this breed. Besides being good with other dogs, he is reportedly housetrained and compatible with cats. Harley needed us when his previous owner was cited for having too many dogs.

Update: Bebe was adopted on August 23rd! Bebe knows her place is in the spotlight. She is a gorgeous girl and she loves soaking up attention and adoration. Bebe is a tri-color Basset Hound, spayed, 4 years of age, debuting for adoption today. Besides being beautiful, she is well-behaved. She enjoys other friendly dogs and she is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and compatible with cats and kind children. Basset Hound knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption. Bebe needed us due to her previous family's financial hardship.

Update: Tyson was adopted on February 18th! Regal and friendly, Tyson can easily steal your heart. He is a tri-color Basset Hound, neutered male, one year of age. Tyson is good with other dogs, and reportedly housetrained too (with a doggie door). His ears need regular cleaning. Basset Hound knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred for his adoption. Tyson needed us when his previous owner abandoned him in an apartment. Tyson debuts for adoption today.

Update: Cleo was adopted on November 21st! Within the past year, Cleo lost the two individuals who she had built her world around. Her dad went into hospice with terminal cancer and her soul-mate, G.W., a Bloodhound, passed away naturally of old age. Cleo is an easy-going, well-behaved senior who needs a new loving home. The sooner the better, because she is already in her final years of life and each day without a loving family is time she cannot recapture. She is a tri-color Basset Hound, spayed, and about 9 years of age. She is reportedly housetrained and fine with mature, kind children. Though Cleo loves almost everyone, she is reportedly aggressive with cats. Please ask for Cleo by name at our headquarters and give her the opportunity to show you the world of unconditional love this senior still has left to share.

Update: Duke was adopted on October 16th! Duke is an exceptionally friendly youngster who needed us when his owners' home went into foreclosure. He is a handsome Basset Hound, neutered, and 2 years of age. Duke debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is reportedly housetrained, good with cats & dogs, and fine with kind children of all ages. Duke's only reported fault is that he must be left alone when he is eating (though we have no reports of biting, nipping or growling). Food aggression is not uncommon, particularly with dogs who have experienced extreme hunger or starvation earlier in their lives. Consulting a professional dog trainer or behaviorist should be helpful in tending to this behavior. Duke needs weekly ear and eye cleaning, so Basset Hound knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred for his adoption.
