Fredrick

Image
Please give Fredrick a second look. His improvement has been astounding! Fredrick is 1 of 33 dogs rescued earlier this year after being confiscated from owners convicted of animal cruelty. All 33 improved beautifully. 26 of the 33 have been adopted! Fredrick is one of the final 7 awaiting loving, forever homes. Fredrick now enjoys sitting in laps and he loves going for walks. He no longer fears people, but instead smiles at them and leaps for joy if he hears the words "t reat" or "walk". He is a medium-size blend of many breeds (including Whippet, Beagle, Mini Bully, more), 3-4 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Fredrick is featured in this uplifting, brief video about the 33 dogs and their healing.

Pixie

Image
Pixie loves to hug people she bonds with, sometimes standing on her hind legs and wrapping her arms around your waist. She walks with a graceful prance. Pixie is 1 of 33 Whippet mixes rescued earlier this year after their previous owner was convicted of animal cruelty. Pixie is 5 years of age, spayed, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Uplifting video capturing the healing of the 33 dogs. More details about the rescue of the 33 dogs.

Rhett

Image
Rhett has decided that people can be wonderful and worth meeting and bonding with. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and staff, his progress these past weeks has been remarkable, and he is eager to love and begin his new life in a forever home.   Rhett is one of the 33 dogs confiscated from squalor and horrors on March 1. He is a medium-size Heinz 57 (all 33 are blends of Whippet, Weimaraner, Beagle, and Bully), 6 years of age and neutered, and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. 2-minute video featuring Rhett and the other 32 rescued dogs . [Note: Rhett has a birth defect that requires a simple, quick, and very inexpensive daily ointment on his penis.]

Knight

Image
Knight is steadily building courage and self-esteem, and he's on his way toward reaching his loving potential.  Of the 33 dogs confiscated from squalor and horrors, he was in the most emotional distress and panicked whenever he was the focus of attention. Knight has now begun crawling in our laps, walking short distances on leash, and accepting care and kindness without freezing in fear. He is 3 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Please help find a hero with dog behavior and training skills who can guide him to continued improvement toward becoming a well-adjusted boy. More details on the 33 rescued dogs .

Fredrick, Harris, Jeremiah, Nathan, and Santino

Image
Fredrick Harris Jeremiah Nathan Santino Fredrick , Harris , Jeremiah , Nathan , and Santino are ready for special needs adoptions at Nevada. SPCA. They are 5 more of the 33 rescued dogs who have progressed to the point where they are ready for heroes to help them continue reaching their full loving potential. Each is gentle and soaks up reassurance with gratitude. The boys are 3-4 years of age and neutered.  Some or all may be compatible with larger dogs, but because of the horrors they witnessed (their previous owner was convicted of animal cruelty), they must never be around small animals. Some of the 33 dogs have already been adopted. Their new parents have been reporting the joy in watching them bloom. Please share to help find heroes. More details on the 33 dogs .

Terrance

Image
Terrance looks up submissively and then his eyes enlarge with hope as he hears us tell him he's a good boy and really doing well. At 22 pounds, he is one of the smallest of the 33 rescued dogs (medium-size Heinz 57s with Whippet, Beagle, Mini Bully, and more breeds). Terrance is 3 years young, neutered, and ready to debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org). Terrance is good with female dogs his size and larger. He'd love to have a big sister help him adjust and finally learn what a loving home feels like. More info on the 33 rescued dogs .

Kristoff

Image
Acceptance is all-important to Kristoff . His fears and anxiety quickly melt away when you show him that you are happy with him. Kristoff is 2 years young, neutered, a medium-size blend of many breeds, debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    He is 1 of 33 dogs confiscated from squalor and horrors, then transferred to Nevada SPCA for rehabilitation and adoption upon the animal cruelty conviction for his previous owner. Kristoff has not known a loving home before, so patience is a must. Everything is new. He thrives with kind guidance and we believe he will continue to adjust surprisingly well. More information about the 33 dogs .

Bonnie Blue Belle, Jade, Opal, Phoebe, Piper

Image
Bonnie Blue Belle Jade Opal Phoebe Piper We are inspired by the progress of these five girls!   Bonnie Blue Belle , Jade , Opal , Phoebe , and Piper debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. They are 5 more of the 33 dogs confiscated from squalor and horrors. The girls are beginning to walk on leash, wag their tails when they greet us, step into our laps for cuddling, and exhibit other ways of accepting compassion.    All are gentle and blooming. Nevertheless, very experienced heroes are needed to adopt them because they have never experienced a loving home before and will need time and patience to adjust. The girls are 3 and 4 years of age and now spayed. They are medium in size, ranging from 20-33 pounds, blends of Whippet, Beagle, Mini Bully, and more. More details on the 33 rescued dogs .

Winnie with Lara, one of her caretakers. "Diamonds taking shape" -- the 33 dogs confiscated from squalor continue blooming with kindness and reassurance.    Winnie is the 8th of the 33 now ready to begin a new life and she debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA (www.nevadaspca.org). More of Winnie's siblings and cousins will be ready too in the days and weeks to come, based on their emotional healing and improvements, and spay/neuter surgeries and recoveries. Winnie is sweet to hear that you are happy with her. She'll kiss you if you tell her she is wonderful and improving beautifully!    Winnie is medium-size (25 pounds), 5 years of age and spayed, a blend of Whippet, Beagle & Mini Bully, and good with dogs her size and larger. Please help find a hero for Winnie . She needs to only see the best of human nature from now on. More details about what the 33 dogs endured .

Bonnie

Bonnie kissing Wayne, one of her caretakers. Bonnie likely never knew what a hug felt like. She is now accepting kindness beautifully and realizing that people can be nurturing. Bonnie is the 6th of the 33 medium-size Heinz 57s (Beagle, Whippet & Mini Bully mixes) confiscated from squalor and horrors. Her previous owner was convicted of animal cruelty. More details. Bonnie is a 23-pound sweetheart, 3 years of age, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.    She is fine with other dogs (her size and larger only).    Bonnie needs a hero who will be very patient and understanding with her.

Ariel and Aubree.

Image
Ariel Ariel Aubree Aubree Ariel and Aubree , the 4th and 5th of the 33 rescued dogs, are among the smallest at just 25 lbs and 27 lbs. Both are adjusting and improving nicely and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Their dozens of siblings and cousins will be ready in the days and weeks to come based on their emotional progress and spay/neuter surgeries. As you may recall, the 33 dogs were confiscated from squalor and witnessed horrors. Their previous owner was convicted of animal cruelty. Here is the original post about them with more detail. Ariel and Aubree both love treats! We are glad that they have such hearty appetites. They were frightened of us at first, but they now allow us to handle and cuddle them without fear of panic attacks. They are medium-size Heinz 57 mixes with Whippet, Beagle, Mini Bully, and more breeds, 3 years of age and now spayed. Both girls need heroes and get along fine with other dogs (th...

Noah

Image
Noah , the 3rd of the 33 rescued dogs ready for adoption, surprised and inspired us this morning when he confidently trotted into the courtyard, on a leash, and crawled right up on staff members' laps for hugs and kisses. Noah's progress has been at warp-speed and we're so proud of him for trusting us and understanding that we're working for his future. Because of all he endured and witnessed, he still needs a hero with extensive experience. He has never been in a loving home before and will need to adjust to many new routines and experiences. Noah is a medium-size Heinz 57 blend of Whippet, Beagle, Mini Bully & Sporting breeds, about 6 years of age, now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He may be compatible with dogs his size and larger (unconfirmed). Here's more detail on the rescue of the 33 dogs.

Ishmael

Image
Ishmael , the 2nd of the 33 rescued dogs to become ready for adoption, is learning to embrace kindness. Like his brother, Sweet Pete, who was adopted a few days ago, Ishmael is exceptionally gentle and humble. The 33 were saved from deplorable squalor and their previous owner was convicted of animal cruelty. Original post about what they endured . Ishmael is 4 years of age and neutered, a medium-size blend of many breeds (including Whippet, Beagle, Dalmatian, Bully, and more). We are not yet sure whether he is compatible with other dogs due to the horrors and dog fighting he witnessed. Ishmael is emotionally improving so well. He needs to continue gaining weight though and physically improving with good nutrition and exercise. Please visit Nevada SPCA and ask for Ishmael by name. His siblings and cousins will be ready for adoption too in the weeks to come based on their emotional and physical healing and spay/neuter surgerie...

Sweet Pete

Image
Sweet Pete is the first of the 33 rescued dogs to be ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. He lived in squalor his whole life and witnessed horrors. But Sweet Pete believes in people and readily accepts nurturing and kindness. He is about 4 years of age, neutered, medium in size (as are all 33), and perhaps a blend of Whippet, Beagle, Bully, and small Sporting breeds. Even though Sweet Pete is exceptionally gentle, he requires an experienced home because he has never before known loving care or been inside an adequate home or on a lifestyle routine. His 32 siblings and cousins will be ready for adoption too in the days and weeks to come (based on their emotional progress and spay/neuter surgeries). Original post about the 33 .

Ariel and Jade

Image
Ariel Jade Jade with Wayne Follow-up on the 33 rescued dogs mentioned yesterday: Ariel and Jade both love hugging and cuddling. Like Bonnie Blue Belle , who was featured yesterday , the girls have tender hearts and yearn for acceptance. All 33 are doing far better at this early point with staff and volunteers than we would have expected following all that they endured their entire lives. With more socialization, then their spay surgeries, they will be ready for adoption in the weeks to come. Thanks again to everyone who helps make lifesaving work possible! Original post about the 33 .

Extraordinary news we want to share!

Image
Bonnie Blue Belle and her 32 siblings and cousins are now safely at Nevada SPCA. Their transfer was completed today. The next steps are working with them on socialization, getting them spayed/neutered, and preparing them for adoption in the weeks to come. These 33 medium-size Heinz 57s with Whippet (and Beagle and other breeds), ranging from ages 2 to 6 years, were confiscated a year ago from a Nevada home and remained with authorities while their previous owner awaited trial. The owner was recently convicted of animal cruelty charges, resulting in the dogs' release. Authorities feared the dogs were semi-feral and possibly beyond rehabilitation. But we deeply appreciate that they trusted us and gave them a chance. We have been able to handle all 33 dogs, vaccinate them, and even walk most of them on a leash without problems. They crave attention and enjoy the touch and words from staff and volunteers. We cannot say thank you enough to the compassio...
