Louie

Image
Louie is blind. If you hold him with confidence, he feels very much at ease in your arms. Louie is 1 of the 24 chinchillas rescued earlier this month. 12 are still awaiting loving, forever homes at Nevada SPCA. All are recovering from neglect and approximately 8 years of age. They were allegedly being used for breeding in a previous home. We are seeking homes where they will be cherished for their individual personalities and spirits, never to be bred or neglected again. Louie adores people, but he gets anxious being around other chinchillas. He is one of the few chinchillas who need to be adopted separately, while most of the others need to be adopted in pairs due to their very social natures.

Gigi, Grant, and Tarzan

Gigi Grant Tarzan Gigi , Grant , and Tarzan are 3 of the 14 rescued Chinchillas available for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.    All are friendly, recovering well from neglect, and about 8 years of age.    We are seeking knowledgeable, responsible homes where they will be treasured for life, and safe. (They are from a group of 24 chinchillas we rescued who had been exploited for breeding.) More details on the 24.

Marigold, Sir Walter, Theodore

Image
Marigold Sir Walter Theodore Marigold , Sir Walter , and Theodore are among the 24 rescued Chinchillas ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Marigold is an acrobatic girl who enjoys leaping from shelf-to-shelf in her vertical cage/habitat. Please adopt her with one of her sisters for lifelong companionship. Sir Walter , white mosaic, enjoys redecorating his cage/habitat by moving all of his items around to his liking. He is confident with people, but doesn't like other chinchillas. While we want to adopt most of the chinchillas in pairs, because they are very social animals, Sir Walter is one of the exceptions and needs a home where he will be the only one. Theodore is a bit bashful, but warms quickly when offered dried cranberries or raisin treats. He would love to be adopted with one of his brothers for lifelong companionship.

24 rescued Chinchillas

Emmie is 1 of 24 Chinchillas just rescued from another shelter.  Most are friendly, though recovering from a neglectful home where they were suspected of being used for breeding. (Some have wounds, missing toes, matted coats, lacerated tails, more.)  Our plan is to continue their cleaning, caretaking, and veterinary evaluations through the early part of next week. Some of the 24 are expected to be ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA beginning on Wednesday, July 6. The others will become ready for adoption too based on the progress of their improvements.
