Missy

Image
Missy was looking up at this morning for reassurance, wondering if her bath and haircut made her look okay.  At the time of rescue she was filthy (having lived solely outdoors in the dust) and matted, so there was no telling when she had last been cleaned.  We told Missy everyone can now see how beautiful she is and that a new home would surely be hers very soon.  We believe she is a Miniature Schnauzer & Lhasa-Poo mix, about 6 years of age, and great with other dogs.  Missy is now spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I'll bring you love and fun every day!

Owen had fun at Pet'ographique , enjoyed being the center of attention, and began showing off numerous poses and facial expressions.  These are our two favorites. Owen is a snuggly little guy with great character, a Chihuahua, about 6 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Owen gets along well with people and dogs and he is eager to begin his new life with someone who will cherish him.

Terrific update on Waffles/Bear!

Image
Waffles/Bear, a puppy, December 2012 From December, 2012, some of you will remember Waffles , a Belgian Shepherd (Tervuren) puppy with birth defects on a front and hind paw. His dad, John, said he is now named Bear and he has grown into a magnificent adult and he's learning to use a prosthetic foot. He says that Bear is remarkably comical and happy -- the family was surprised by his great sense of humor. Bear's favorite activities include car rides and putting his paws on your shoulder when he greets you so that he can talk (he loves to vocalize) to you about your day. Here is our original post about Waffles/Bear.

Fernando

Image
Most urgent need for a hero please!  Fernando is 18 and blind in both eyes.  (Our particular worry for cats at such an advanced age is that they may succumb to severe depression from becoming homeless.) Fernando is most content in your arms, cradled and spoken to reassuringly.  He is meowing and chatting quite a bit, confused about what's happened, unable to understand that his previous owner went into hospitalization and assisted care. Will you please share Fernando's post so he can join a loving home as soon as possible with someone with a tender, comforting touch?

Kindness is so powerful it can help heal the worst cruelty.

Claudia is now a radiant girl, a junior puppy, enjoying people and other dogs.  She is unrecognizable today from the time of her rescue a few months ago when she was cowering and growling, head to the ground, found abused and abandoned on the mean streets.  Special thanks to volunteers dedicating their time and patience for Claudia and the others who must be shown that humans are capable of compassion.  Claudia is an golden Heinz 57, just 29 pounds, most likely a blend of Italian Greyhound or Whippet.  She is 11 months of age, spayed, and triumphantly debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Huckleberry's new portraits!

Image
Courtesy of the amazing Pet'ographique , the portraits illuminate the kindness of this majestic and vibrant young boy.  Huckleberry is well-behaved and he adores people.  The reason he has been with us for months is because he has to have a home without other dogs.    Huckleberry is housetrained, about 2 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  Please help spread the word for Huckleberry so he can begin his new life with someone who will love him and never fail him.

Your kindness has awakened new hope in me.

We are elated to see Callie so happy and beaming!  This is a huge day and achievement for her -- her debut for adoption -- that has been months in the making.  We rescued Callie from another shelter earlier this year.  She had been abused and initially refused to bond with or trust any of us.  But dedicated and patient volunteers and staff have proven to Callie that humans can be kind, thereby awakening in her new hope for her future.  She is still a bit shy, but her progress has been remarkable!  Callie is a medium-size Heinz 57 with Aussie, a unique chocolate & cream & white blend of several breeds, just under 2 years of age and spayed.  Callie is good with other dogs and may do best in a home with a big brother or sister dog.  Please visit and ask for Callie by name at Nevada SPCA.

Foster heroes urgently needed for pregnant animals and motherless newborns!

Image
Elisa and Ellie, baby sisters. Jack and Sally, motherless kittens. Jenlin, pregnant young girl. Sasha, pregnant Chihuahua rescued from an abusive home. Foster heroes are needed today for a pregnant cat, a pregnant dog, and 10 motherless kittens.  If you are interested in becoming a foster parent for one or more of these sweet animals in urgent need, please visit Nevada SPCA today before 4pm and ask for Katelyn . Elisa and Ellie are tiny baby sisters and two of the kittens a man heard crying for help inside the wall of his home.  He believed their mom dropped them in a vent and he broke into the wall to save them. Jack and Sally are not related, but two of the kittens abandoned at a veterinary hospital without their mother. Jenlin is an exceptionally sweet youngster, a pregnant girl who loves people, about 1 year of age.  She needs a peaceful, comfortable home environment where she can birth and raise her babies. Sasha is a pregnant Chihuahua rescued from an ab

Before & After pictures of sweet Lacey.

Lacey, March 11 Lacey, May 26 Lacey is an angelic girl who has been recovering from starvation for the past 8 weeks.  Today, she triumphantly debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Lacey is a Shih-Tzu mix, about 6 years of age and spayed, and great with other gentle dogs.  We rescued her from another shelter in March when she was skeletal, severely neglected, and had blood in her urine from a bladder stone.  The first picture (green background) is just days after her rescue once we had her knots and tangles shaved away.  In this morning's picture (the turquoise background), you can see the hope and glow in her eyes.  Lacey has regained weight and energy, her coat is growing out nicely thanks to premium food, and she has recovered well from her bladder stone surgery.  Please help us find a wonderful, stable, loving forever home for Lacey .

Shelby's progress -- an update about his loving, forever home!

Image
Joyce and her daughter, Leslie, are happy to share the news about Shelby's tremendous progress in his forever home!  You may remember Shelby , a longtime and very beloved resident at Nevada SPCA, working to overcome lingering memories of abuse.  The first two pictures are of Shelby at Nevada SPCA.  His sister is Ginger, a Chow Chow, and they love going for car rides and plead for stops at fast food windows.  Shelby's daily morning routine includes long trail walks and swimming in the river.  Shelby's joy is a testament to the can-do attitude of his new family and the countless hours of dedication from volunteers helping him believe in people again.

Cecily

Image
Cecily is a tiny, pixie-like baby girl with a precious soul and she triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is a small Heinz 57 -- a sweet blend of many breeds -- about 6 months of age, good with other dogs, and now spayed.  Please puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety. At the time of rescue Cecily was in peril from the deadly parvo virus.  We rushed her to a veterinary hospital, and thanks to extensive veterinary care made possible by our advanced medical fund, Cecily made a full, beautiful recovery!

Ally's triumphant recovery!

Image
Ally is especially soulful for her young age.  She is an affectionate and lovable Dachshund mix, 10 months of age, a junior puppy, good with other dogs, now spayed and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  At the time of rescue she was in peril from the deadly parvo virus.  Thanks to our advanced medical care fund, we had extensive veterinary care provided for her and she made a full, beautiful recovery!  Ally is ready to begin her new life and bless someone with her unconditional love.

Heroes needed! Motherless kittens need surrogate parents.

Image
Benjamin, baby boy Jewel, baby girl Please continue sharing these foster posts to help find wonderful foster homes for many animals with a fragile hold on life.  Your sharing is working and saving lives! 19 more motherless kittens of varying ages have been rescued and urgently need surrogate parents for nurturing care and socialization.  Please visit Nevada SPCA before 4pm if you can help two or more, and ask for Lonnie. Benjamin , a silver tabby, was found wandering alone in a park.  He is about 5 weeks of age and needs approximately 1 month of foster care. Jewel and her four brothers were found in a warehouse.  A worker was about to saw a box they were in when he fortunately heard their cries in time to avoid harming them.  These five babies are just 4 weeks of age and learning to eat wet food on their own. More about foster parenting. Thank you!

Foster homes urgently needed please for 20 rescued motherless kittens!

Image
Debra and Arline, baby girls Flower, baby girl 20 more motherless kittens have been rescued in just the past 24 hours and we are urgently seeking loving foster homes for them until they are old enough to be spayed/neutered.  If you can help 2 or more, please visit Nevada SPCA before 4pm and ask for Lonnie. Pictured here: Debra and Arline were found nestled inside an old couch left out on a curb.  The man putting the couch in the back of his truck discovered the baby girls hidden inside.  They are about 5 weeks of age. Flower and her four siblings are just 4 weeks of age.  A man found them in the back seat of his truck.  Their mother had jumped out when he opened the door and he was unable to catch her. More about foster parenting. Thank you!

Anastasia

Image
We are elated that Anastasia has made such remarkable progress and that she is happily debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is an angelic and cheerful baby girl, spayed and about 8 months of age, a unique me dium-size snow-white blend of breeds that likely includes Whippet & Retriever.  At the time of rescue Anastasia was in peril from parvo virus. Thanks to donors to our advanced medical care fund, Anastasia received extensive veterinary treatment and made a full, beautiful recovery!  Please visit and ask for Anastasia by name.

Will you let me give my love to you?

Ivy is a precious little girl debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  She is a Toy Poodle mix, good with other dogs, about 6 years of age and now spayed.  Ivy was found abandoned and severely injured, with no sign of responsible ownership.  Her left eye was out of its socket and deflated, far past the point of being able to be saved.  But Ivy is adjusting well to one eye and she is eager to be loved by someone who will cherish her and keep her safe.

Hermani

Image
Hermani is full of personality and she is very intelligent and engaging. Favorite activities include being held, sitting at your side, and chasing laser pointers. She is 12 years of age, a beautiful black medium-hair with enchanting eyes, a spayed girl, ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Hermani is compatible with cats, dogs, and kids. Special thanks to Pet'ographique for capturing her spirit so wonderfully in these brand new portraits.

Mary Andrews and her "Archie" babies debuting for adoption.

Image
Archie, baby boy. Betty, baby girl. Juggled, baby boy. Mary Andrews, mother. Veronica, baby girl. In late January, this tiny mom was found outside and homeless with her four newborn, day-old babies.  We placed them in loving foster care so mom could raise her babies in a peaceful, nurturing home environment.  Based on the comical, fun-loving personalities of the babies, all are named after Archie Comic book characters.  Mom is Mary Andrews and her daughters are Betty and Veronica , and her sons are Archie and Juggled.  All are now debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  Mary Andrews is a very shy Chihuahua, about 4 years of age and spayed.  Her puppies are almost 4 months of age and spayed/neutered, and so adventurous that it's critically important you carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for their safety.

Tootie

Image
Tootie delights in playing with fuzzy ball toys, but during quieter moments when you are on the sofa she likes to crawl onto your shoulder and sit close to your face.  Tootie is an adorable blue-grey & white kitten with a "milkstache" and copper eyes, about 3 months of age, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA.  At the time of rescue she was only a few weeks old and a man was getting rid of her in a parking lot.  We immediately placed Tootie in a nurturing foster home for surrogate mothering, and she was raised with other cats and kittens.

Rusty, overjoyed in his new home!

Image
Rusty is a 16 & 1/2 year old sweetheart rescued last month.  His previous owners had moved away without him and we were terribly concerned he would succumb to depression. We just received the short clip above from his new mom and hero, Pamela, and her husband, who adore Rusty and have obviously brought him enormous happiness.  Rusty's new brother, Tramp, an Australian Shepherd, can be partially seen too.

I'm not just sad for myself, but for the kids who were taught that it was okay to dispose of me.

Panther is a wonderful treasure, an exceptionally friendly boy who likes children and dogs.  He wants lots of touch and affections, so please be sure you have plenty of quality time for him every day.  Panther is about 4 years of age, neutered, and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. He also enjoys sitting at a high point in the room so he can watch over everyone.  Panther's previous owner said he was being surrendered because "the kids want a kitten", which is unacceptable.  We believe Panther and all of these animals, loving and emotional beings all, deserve better than to be the victims of people who consider them disposable.

I want to know love and peace-of-mind. It's just that simple.

Champion is an earnest, sporty boy debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.  He is a Bully mix with panda-like coloring, about 4 years of age and neutered.  Champion is reportedly good with kids, but shy with adults until he knows they intend him no harm.  (We suspect he has witnessed domestic violence or other domestic traumas based on his timidity and the limited information obtained from his previous owner.)  Please help find Champion a responsible, stable lifelong home where he will be showered with love and enjoy daily playtime sessions.

Cinnabar

Image
Cinnabar is a very social young girl who enjoys bonding with people and exploring rooms.  She is a beautiful Cinnamon breed bunny, 18 months of age, now spayed and ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA in the Lovebugs Room.  Cinnabar was found abandoned in a park (where, as a domesticated rabbit, she would have starved or fallen victim to a predator or vehicle or other danger, because survival requires human caretaking).  Special thanks to Pet'ographique for these magnificent portraits to help Cinnabar find a responsible, indoor-only, loving forever home.
