Today is my big debut, and 5 months in the making!

Gifford is a radiant boy who is making remarkable progress and he triumphantly debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

He is a very friendly Golden Retriever mix, neutered, 5 years of age, and great with people and dogs.

At the time of rescue, which was in January, Gifford had been abandoned by owners who moved away without him.  He had intense blisters and hair loss on his face and on patches across his body.

He was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease of the skin (called Pemphigus, which is the most common of the autoimmune diseases in dogs, and it is not contagious).

Thanks to the exceptional generosity of a veterinarian who specializes in skin care, Gifford's treatment and improvements began immediately.

Gifford has been recovering well for the past five months and his hair has regrown beautifully.  His skin, too, has recovered from the blistering, though some scarring remains.

He needs to remain on medication (low-dose prednisone) for life.

Please help us find Gifford a hero.  He has tremendous unconditional devotion to share!
