They left me to die alone in the backyard.

Update: Cody was adopted on August 31st!

It is easy to fall in love with Cody.

He is an exceptionally sweet, radiant boy with a delightful personality.

Cody is a Yorkshire Terrier, neutered, about 4 years of age, and he debuts for adoption today.

He was tossed to one of our board members in a parking lot. His face was encrusted with dried blood and puss, and his left eye was severely, painfully infected.

His previous owner told us that he breeds Yorkshire Terriers and that he had bred Cody. But his brother breeds too, a large dog breed (Rottweilers), and one of them had attacked Cody and pierced his left eye and face when he was bitten on the head.

His previous owner said the attack had occurred two weeks prior and that they had expected Cody to die in the backyard, and they left him there to roam and pass away on his own. When he managed to survive, they just wanted rid of him and agreed to let us rescue him.

Cody triumphed, thanks to medical care we had provided for his infections. His eye could not be saved, of course, and it was removed, and he has been adjusting well to life with one eye. After his surgery he lived in foster care with one of our staff for extra special attention while he recuperated.

Cody enjoys other friendly dogs -- small ones -- and he needs regular grooming care (so be sure to budget extra accordingly).

Please adopt Cody and protect this little angel and show him how compassionate people can be when they make companion animals members of their families.

On a final note: Please do not buy dogs, cats, or any other pets from breeders. There are thousands of homeless animals today across the Las Vegas metro area who await loving, forever homes. Supporting breeders, many of whom are making a quick buck at the animals' expense, is unconscionable during this time of extreme overpopulation in the community. Adopt instead from reputable shelters, agencies, and breed rescue groups who are 100% committed to spay/neuter and lifelong homes.
