Update: Hurley was adopted on November 3rd! Life is so much rougher for sweethearts like Hurley who were not properly socialized during their first two months of life. But Hurley has tremendous loving potential. He is already taken well to other dogs and he is already showing strong improvements with people. Socialization requires time and patience with an experienced owner who understands that progress cannot be forced. Hurley is a super cute puppy, a Heinz 57, perhaps with American Eskimo (but it is too soon to make a better guess). He is only 3 months of age and we expect him to remain small, or at most grow to medium size. Hurley is neutered and he debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

My sister and I can shower you with daily sunshine.

Image
Cinnamon and her sister (Brownie) are " The Golden Girl Puppie s" and they are debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. These two are lively, affectionate, and exceedingly gorgeous girls with sunny personalities. Cinnamon & Brownie are most likely Australian Shepherd mixes, a breed known for great intelligence and cunning. So herding dog knowledge and/or experience is preferred. They are both spayed, of course, and approximately 6 months of age. We believe they will remain medium-sized. Cinnamon & Brownie can be adopted separately, but preference is given to keeping them together for lifelong love & companionship. They are pure gold together! (We are reducing their adoption fees if they are adopted as a pair.)

I want to be with you as often as possible.

Update: Dizzy was adopted on December 5th! Dizzy is a very loving, well-behaved, and social youngster. He is most likely a Rat Terrier mix, perhaps with Chihuahua. He is neutered and about 2 years of age. Dizzy needed us because his owner travels too much. And this boy, who enjoys curling up with you and sleeping on the pillows in bed, requires someone who can give him oodles of cuddling and attention. Though initially shy with new people, Dizzy has many tremendous qualities. He is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door), crate-trained, and good with other dogs and kind children. Dizzy debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Please remember to take common sense steps to make Halloween safe for companion animals too.

On behalf of all of us at Nevada SPCA, we wish you a fun and enjoyable Halloween. Simple, common-sense precautions with your animals can make a life-or-death difference, so please remember to bring animals indoors during the festivities, keep them away from chocolates and other candies, and restrain them from the activities at the front door. The latter may be particularly important to reduce the chances that your companion animal may nip at a costumed stranger or escape onto the streets. Nevada SPCA will be open on Halloween day with regular adoption hours from 11am-5pm.

I may be the world's sweetest chocolate.

Update: Magenta was adopted on February 15th! Magenta is a vibrant, radiant puppy with a heart of pure gold. She is a gorgeous Retriever mix, chocolate & white with wise eyes. She is spayed and about 6 months of age. We expect her to grow to large size, but she may stay medium-sized. Magenta was rescued by a kind soul who found her dodging traffic on a busy street, absolutely terrified. Since then, her sweet, engaging personality has just shined. Magenta debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Please provide basic dog training for me to help me channel my bundles of energy.

Update: Platt was adopted on November 28th! Platt is a very cute, fun-loving, playful, and sometimes goofy puppy who is debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is a Weimaraner mix with ethereal green eyes, neutered male, approximately 7-8 months, perhaps younger. This energetic, curious boy is "all puppy" -- full of adventure. Please only consider Platt if you are willing and able to have basic dog obedience training provided for him. This will help him channel his behaviors appropriately and develop into a well-adjusted, well-behaved adult. You can ask for Platt at our front desk and we will bring him to the courtyard area to spend quality time with you.

I am a quiet type, but I like to feel fancy.

Update: Coconut was adopted on October 30th! Coconut is a precious youngster with a soothing spirit. Our best guess is that he is a Toy Poodle & Maltese mix. He is neutered and just a year of age. We rescued him from another shelter. Coconut enjoys other dogs, tender grooming, and being the center of gentle attention. Please plan on at least quarterly grooming for him and budget extra accordingly. Coconut debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Who will love us and keep us protected?

Update 2: Wallie was adopted on November 3rd! Update: Wallie remains available for adoption. Dolly, Molly, & Ollie were adopted on October 31st! Ollie & Wallie , and their sisters Dolly & Molly, comprise " The Snugglebug Puppies ," who debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. The four pups are adorable as can be, shy, and gentle. We rescued their mother (Diana) from the streets. She was pregnant and went immediately into foster care. Her puppies were born on a large, colorful comforter in the foster home and have since received care and socialization in a home environment. The Snugglebug Puppies have been spayed and neutered, of course. They are about 3 months of age. Their mother is a Chihuahua & Dachshund mix and they look just like her. We expect them to remain small in size. The Snugglebug Puppies are available for adoption separately, but please consider adopting a pair for lifelong companionship. We believe they will do best in quieter, calmer, a

I do not belong on the highway.

Well-behaved and good with other cats, Longfellow is a handsome youngster who would be a wonderful match in so many loving families. But somehow this boy was found by a kind person strolling near a highway, dazed and confused, most likely the result of being dumped in a deadly place. Longfellow has been thriving with us following his rescue. He is now neutered and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Longfellow is mostly white, with grey markings, shorthair, and approximately 3 years of age. Please ask for him by name in the free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms at Nevada SPCA. He needs, requires, and deserves a strictly indoor-only home where he will be safe and loved as a member of the family.

Adopt me and I will be your sweetheart forever.

Update: Kiwi was adopted on November 4th! Like so many other dogs (and cats and all other domesticated species of animals), Kiwi needed rescue when her owner lost the family home to foreclosure. This dainty, chatty girl has a tender, yet playful nature. Kiwi is a petite Terrier mix, spayed, and about 18 months of age. We know she is good with other dogs, and she is reportedly fine with kind, mature teenagers too. Kiwi may need your patience and guidance to complete housetraining. A stable routine (in terms of her feeding schedule and trips to the backyard and/or walks) will go a long way to success. Kiwi debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I feel most at ease with calm, mellow people.

Image
Update: Minnie was adopted on November 3rd! Minnie is a sensitive, precious little girl with a gentle soul. With her unique good looks and piercing grey-hazel eyes, she defies easy breed description, so our best guess is that she is a Toy & Terrier mix. Minnie , who debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA, is spayed and approximately 4 years of age. Minnie's background is a mystery. We rescued her from another shelter. But we know she will do best in a quieter home. She is great with other sweet dogs, and being around them seems to help her with her confidence. Please ask for this special lady today at Nevada SPCA's front desk.

As the days grow colder you can count on me to warm your heart.

Image
Update: Milo was adopted on December 29th! Milo is a darling, super cute, and engaging young boy debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is a Toy & Terrier mix, neutered, and about 2 years of age. Milo enjoys other dogs very much, and being such a social little guy, we believe he will do best in a home with another dog. We rescued Milo from another shelter, so we have little background information on him. Milo is one of 200 dogs for adoption today at Nevada SPCA, all of whom are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on major vaccinations, microchipped, and ready to share their unconditional love with new forever families.

The art of the gentle touch.

Image
Update: Matisse was adopted on November 28th! Matisse is surely a masterpiece in his own right. Besides his stunning multi-color coat, Matisse has a very friendly, calm demeanor and even temperament. We rescued Matisse from another shelter. Matisse is a Cinnamon mix rabbit, neutered male, just one year of age. Like many, if not most, bunnies, he gets anxious when held too long and enjoys crawling up for your attention best on floor level. Matisse is cheeriest for his daily veggies -- "salad time". He is one of more than 70 spayed/neutered bunnies for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. As mentioned on this site many times before, all need and require indoor homes for their safety & protection and where they can be members of their new families.

Would you please consider me to become your lifelong jewel?

Image
Update: Tiffany was adopted on October 29th! Indeed, Tiffany is a gem. She is very sweet, loving, and friendly. She is most likely a Lhasa Apso & Terrier mix. She is spayed, 4 years of age, and she debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Tiffany enjoys other good-natured dogs. Please plan on regular brushing and grooming care for her (and budget extra accordingly). We rescued Tiffany from another shelter.

They say I am proof that dogs can be angels.

Image
Update: Tyson was adopted on November 6th! Tyson is a stellar boy who loves to share kisses. He is most likely a Labrador Retriever & Shepherd mix. He is neutered and about 6 years of age. Tyson needed rescue when his owner became homeless following a divorce. Besides being gentle, he is also well-behaved. He is reportedly housetrained, crate-trained, and compatible with cats and dogs and kind children. Tyson debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I am every bit the superstar and diva as my namesake, Bette Davis.

Image
Update: Bette Davis was adopted on November 10th! Bette Davis has legendary good looks, and she sure knows it. She is affectionate, but on her own terms, of course. Bette Davis is a Rex mix with a gorgeous coat and expressive ears. She is spayed, approximately 3 years of age, and available for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. While she is an opinionated girl, she also has a heart of gold. We believe she will be an exceptional companion in a quieter, experienced home. We rescued her from another shelter. Bette Davis and Nevada SPCA's other rescued rabbits all require indoor living for their safety and protection and so that they can be proper members of their new adopted families.

I prefer the tenderness of gentle women.

Image
Update: Happy was adopted on October 28th! Happy is a loving little snugglebug. She feels most secure with women, especially those who are calm and reassuring. Happy is most likely a Bichon Frise & Poodle mix. She is spayed and approximately 2 years young. She lost her home and needed us due to her owner's financial hardship. Happy is reportedly housetrained (with a doggie door) and she is good with other sweet dogs. Please plan on regular grooming care for her and budget extra accordingly. Each dog varies individually, of course, but generally budget to have her professionally groomed at least quarterly. Please ask for Happy by name at Nevada SPCA's front desk. She debuts for adoption today.

Chewing is not optional for youngsters like me.

Image
Update: Koda was adopted on November 6th! Koda loves being with kind, mature children. He adores them and their fun-loving attitudes toward life. He is a young boy with great joy, perhaps a Heinz 57 with Shepherd & Retriever (but only medium size), neutered, and about 18 months of age. Koda is housetrained already. We believe he would benefit from basic dog obedience training to help him channel his energy and enthusiasm. He reportedly lost his home due to chewing. But chewing is a natural, necessary behavior, especially for young dogs. The key is directing his chewing appropriately onto toys and treats. Koda debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

If you seek someone full of character and nuance, then I am the boy for you.

Image
Update: Moe was adopted on January 27th! It only takes one look into Moe's wise, light green eyes to realize that he is especially clever, and perhaps complicated. On the one hand, he is very playful and enjoys lap time to receive affection. However, he has a feisty streak, especially when he gets over-stimulated (from brushing, other cats, etc.), leading sometimes to love bites. Therefore, he needs an adult home (or a home with only older, mature children). Moe is a handsome grey-blue shorthair tuxedo, neutered, and about 4 years of age. Moe needed rescue when he was found by a neighbor trying to survive outdoors after his owner had abandoned the family home to foreclosure. Surviving outdoors would have been very short-lived. He is declawed and especially vulnerable to the dangers and predators that commonly injure, maim, and kill outdoor cats. Please ask for Moe in the free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms at Nevada SPCA. As with all of Nevada SPCA's rescued cats, he needs,

I cannot wait to begin playing with you and joining your family.

Image
Update: Lady was adopted on November 14th! Lady is a spunky, outgoing youngster with a light-hearted nature. She is a beautiful tri-color Boxer with the natural ears God gave her (and which we prefer to cropping for both aesthetic and humane reasons). She is spayed and approximately 18 months of age. Lady needed us because her owner was elderly and unable to handle her high energy level. But Lady is well-behaved. Besides being housetrained (with a doggie door), she is good with other dogs and kind children. Boxer knowledge and/or experience is preferred for her adoption. Lady debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I am a tiny girl with a big personality.

Image
Update: Moochie was adopted on October 28th! Moochie is a comical puppy with a wonderful zest for life. She is an adorable Miniature Pinscher mix, approximately 11 months of age. Besides being housetrained, Moochie is compatible with other sweet dogs and kind, mature children. She is still technically a puppy, and puppy-like in her moods and behaviors, so please carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for her safety and protection. Moochie needed us because of her owner's financial collapse. Moochie debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please visit and ask for this sweetheart by name.

I need someone I can count on forever.

Image
Update: Bitsy was adopted on October 26th! Bitsy is a very sensitive girl, weary from losing one home after another -- and she is only one year of age! We rescued her from another shelter after she had been surrendered there twice and ran out of time. Imagine giving all of your love and devotion to your caretaker and then being rejected for reasons you cannot understand. As with the vast majority of animals in shelters and rescue programs, Bitsy most likely did nothing wrong. Her rejections speak more about the failings and shortcomings of the people who previously cared for her. She is a petite, gentle Dachshund mix, spayed, and one year young. She debuts today for adoption at Nevada SPCA.

I would love to have a sister to be my lifelong companion too.

Image
Update: Polly Anna was adopted on October 26th! Polly Anna is an adorable baby girl with an inquisitive nature. She is an American smooth-coated guinea pig, about 6 months of age. We rescued her from another shelter. Polly Anna is especially enthusiastic for her daily servings of Timothy hay and parsley. Guinea pigs are social animals, like us, so she will do best with another female guinea pig for companionship. If you do not have a female guinea pig also in need of a sister, then please only consider Polly Anna if you are very open to adopting one for her in the future. Polly Anna debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I am cuter and more lovable than pirate Captain Jack Sparrow.

Image
Update: Captain Jack is being adopted by his foster mom! Our Captain Jack is calmer and more affectionate than the movie version of the character, but he has similarities too, most notably with his independent spirit and confidence. Captain Jack is a great big youngster, weighing in at 15 pounds, due less to obesity than his Maine Coon mix breeding (Maine Coons are one of the largest cat breeds). He is extremely fortunate to be alive. We rescued him when he was only a few days old (without his mom to care for him). He immediately went into foster care and his foster mom valiantly fed him every few hours to save his life. Captain Jack was plagued with recurring infections, which cost him his right eye due to immense scarring. His foster mom has kept him almost a full year to help him recover, but he is now ready for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Captain Jack requires a special needs home, less for his missing eye than for his periodic respiratory infections (which he seems prone to). T

Will I ever have peace of mind?

Image
Update: Bailee was adopted on October 26th! Bailee is such a sensitive and tender-hearted soul that being surrendered by her owners (who are moving away without her) has left her very bewildered. She has additional challenges. She is especially nervous of men she does not know and she has a deformed front leg which hinders her walking. We are not sure whether her leg deformity is due to a birth defect or an old, untreated injury. Bailee also needs patience and guidance (and a stable routine) to complete housetraining, unless you want to continue her with litter training. Bailee is a pretty, bright-eyed Chihuahua, spayed, and about 3-4 years of age. She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. While this sweetheart needs extra care and attention, her rewards back to you in love and devotion will more than compensate your efforts. Please adopt her and be her committed hero.

I need to be with gentle adults only.

Image
Update: Cashmere was adopted on October 23rd! Like many Toy breed dogs, Cashmere is anxious, nervous, and fearful around toddlers and young children. She lost her home due to nipping or snapping at a child, however, we do not have any specifics on what occurred. But to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention, it is a strict condition of her adoption that Cashmere is not given any access whatsoever to toddlers or young children. Cashmere is a gorgeous young lady with an endearing personality. She is a Maltese, spayed, about 3 years young. Please plan on and budget for regular professional grooming care for her (approximately 4 times each year or more). Cashmere enjoys other sweet dogs and tends to bond with them very well. Cashmere debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. An experienced, gentle home is required.

I want so badly to believe in the kindness and decency of people again.

Image
Update: Titan was adopted on November 3rd! Titan's soulful eyes reveal emotional hardship. We believe he was the victim of at least mild abuse, whether physical or screaming, or both. But his spirit is very loving and he cherishes the gentle, reassuring touch of calm people. Titan is an exceptionally handsome Doberman Pinscher. He is neutered and approximately 6 years of age. We rescued him from another shelter. Titan debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Doberman Pinscher knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred.

I crave being the center of attention.

Image
Update: Dragon was adopted on October 24th! Dragon is a chatty, jazzy pup with ethereal, hazel eyes. His gaze is full of innocence and devotion. He is reportedly a Border Terrier, but we are not sure whether he is a purebred or mix. Regardless, we believe that breed make-up is far less important than personality and temperament. Dragon , his sisters, and his mom needed us when their owner's home went into foreclosure. Dragon is now neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. His mother, Peanut, also debuts for adoption today, and his sisters will be ready for adoption soon once they recover from their spay surgeries. Terrier knowledge and/or experience is preferred.

I lost my mommy too soon.

Image
Update: Daisy was adopted on October 26th! Daisy was only about a month of age when she was given away in a discount store parking lot. Her mom was nowhere in sight. It is no surprise then that she needs more reassurance and tenderness, but we believe she is already well on her way to developing into a well-adjusted, well-balanced little girl. Daisy is a darling Terrier mix puppy, now 3 months of age. Now that she is spayed she is ready for adoption into a forever home. Daisy enjoys other dogs and may do best with a big brother or big sister (adult dog) to help give her guidance and build her confidence. Daisy , like all puppies, requires an experienced home.

Make a lifetime commitment to me and I will reward you daily with love and affection.

Image
Update: Nickles was adopted on October 24th! Nickles is a priceless, super cute youngster who can melt your heart with his sweet expressions. He is a Silky Terrier, neutered male, about 2 years of age. We rescued Nickles from another shelter, so we do not have much background information on him. However, we know he enjoys other friendly dogs and requires regular grooming care (so be sure to budget extra accordingly). Nickles debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

If you support Nevada SPCA, then you helped save my life.

Image
Update: Bonita was adopted on January 2nd! We rescued Bonita more than two months ago after she had been severely attacked by a larger dog. She was in shock and had enormous gaping wounds on her upper back and neck. Her owners would not or could not provide the emergency medical care needed to save her life, so we stepped in and rushed her into intensive care. Bonita has healed and recovered very well, and today she is ready to debut in adoptions at Nevada SPCA. Bonita is a pretty Miniature Pinscher, spayed, and approximately 8 years of age. She is a lovebug, yet timid until she gets to know and trust you. Bonita enjoys the company of other small, calm dogs. But please keep her away from all large dogs who may re-trigger reminders of the attack. Bonita's nuisance habit is reportedly jumping on counters, which she apparently loves to do and ignores attempts at diminishing this behavior. She is very fortunate to be alive. We are deeply grateful to all of you who support our li

They say I am prettier than a painting.

Update: Sheba was adopted on October 23rd! Sheba's beautiful spirit shines through her eyes and smile. She is a darling youngster with a cheery, affectionate nature. Sheba is reportedly a Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel & Toy Poodle mix), spayed, and about 2 years of age. She debuts for adoption today. She is housetrained, crate-trained, and good with other sweet dogs. Please plan on regular grooming and good hygiene for her. Sheba reportedly has a sensitive stomach and needs a chicken and rice diet. Please consult your veterinarian for further guidance on a proper diet plan for her. Sheba needed us because her owner was away from the home up to 14 hours daily.

Let's learn lots of new hand signals together.

Image
Update: Buddy was adopted on October 23rd! Buddy is a very fun-loving, handsome, and sometimes goofy boy with an outgoing personality. He is a white Boxer, neutered male, approximately 5-6 years of age. Besides being housetrained and crate-trained, Buddy is reportedly fine with most other dogs, including smaller dogs, and compatible with most cats. Boxer knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred. Buddy is deaf (or almost completely deaf). He knows two hand signals (for "sit" & "stay") and his new owner will need to work on additional, consistent signals to aid in communication with him. He is reportedly fine with older, mature children, but he lost his home because there was a child in the home who was not treating him kindly. Buddy debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

With your good guidance I am ready to shine.

Image
Update: Teddy was adopted on October 31st! Teddy is a precious young boy with a heart of gold and an endearing nature. He is an apricot Toy Poodle mix, neutered, about 3 years of age. Teddy is good with other sweet dogs, and he is reportedly fine with kind teenagers. Please plan on regular grooming and hygiene and budget extra accordingly. He apparently lived on an outside patio during the days, so he will probably need your patience and guidance (and a stable routine) to complete housetraining. Teddy debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I only needed a simple procedure to be saved.

Image
Update: Sweetheart was adopted on November 23rd! Appropriately named, Sweetheart is an affectionate, loving young lady who debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She is a pretty Miniature Pinscher, spayed, about 2 years of age. Sweetheart and her 7 puppies were surrendered to us because her owners feared she had a cancerous growth on her neck and they said they could not afford any treatments or medical care for her. We had a veterinarian examine her and the throat wound was deemed to be easily treatable and non-cancerous. She has since healed beautifully in a foster home. It is tragic that so many animals are given up by their families based on amateur guesses like this, related to fears of what they may be charged by a veterinarian. As in Sweetheart's case, the remedies are often simple and inexpensive. Sweetheart's puppies remain in foster care and all are thriving. Please ask for this little beauty (and ball of energy!) today at Nevada SPCA.

They played a dirty trick to get rid of me.

Image
Update: Sophie was adopted on October 24th! Sophie is a sensitive, tender-hearted young girl with soft, expressive eyes. She is a petite Beagle mix, spayed, about one year of age. Sophie is feeling in a bit better spirits lately, but she was overwhelmed with confusion and disappointment at the time of rescue. Her owners dishonorably dumped her by deceiving a boarding kennel into taking her for the night, then they failed to ever return. We made room for her at Nevada SPCA since she had nowhere to go. Sophie is good with other dogs. Unfortunately, we know almost nothing about her past, except that she never deserved to be thrown away. Sophie debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I am on the lookout for a caring, compassionate owner who will keep me safe and cherish me daily.

Image
Theodore is an engaging, very sweet youngster who is ready today for adoption into a forever home. He is an English Spot mix bunny, neutered male, just one year of age. The staff says he is especially distinguished with his "apple cheeks and lustrous eyelashes". Theodore was rescued from a neighborhood where he was trying to survive outdoors. He didn't stand a chance by himself, with dangers lurking at every turn (including vehicles, predators, dogs, bikes, poisons, and more). Like all bunnies, he needs and deserves an indoor home where he is a member of the family. He is anxious about being handled, but if you are willing to get on floor level with him you will find he is quite affectionate and curious. Theodore is one of almost 70 spayed/neutered rabbits for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I dazzle and sparkle brilliantly in the spotlight.

Image
Update: Hank was adopted on October 26th! Hank is a spritely youngster, full of pizzazz, who loves to be the center of attention. He is an exceptionally cute Miniature Schnauzer, neutered, and approximately 3 years of age. Besides being compatible with other dogs, he is reportedly fine with mature, kind teenagers. Hank needs professional grooming a few times each year, so please budget and plan accordingly. His ideal new owner/guardian will have Schnauzer knowledge and/or experience. Hank reportedly lost his home due to barking, chewing, and lack of housetraining. However, it appeared he was confined to a single room during the day without access to a doggie door or crate. Therefore, Hank will need your patience and good guidance on all three fronts (more security during periods of isolation, re-direct his natural chewing instincts onto proper toys & treats, and provide a regular lifestyle routine he can count on). Please only consider him if you are 100% committed to providin

I am bubblier than a bottle of the finest champagne!

Image
Update: Kenobi was adopted on October 22nd! Kenobi is an adorable little goofball with a fun-loving spirit. He is quite petite, sometimes seemingly just ears and eyes and smile. But this heartbreaker is just too cute to not melt your heart every chance he gets. Kenobi is a Terrier mix, neutered, and about 3 years of age. We rescued him from another shelter when he ran out of time there. Kenobi debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He enjoys other dogs and he needs regular brushing and good hygiene.

I cannot wait to begin sharing my love with my new guardian.

Image
Update: Manilla was adopted on October 22nd! Some of us think he looks like a Teddy Bear, others believe he resembles a smaller version of Benji. But we all agree he is a complete sweetheart! Manilla is most likely a Wheaton Terrier mix. He is neutered, 2 years young, and he debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. We rescued him from another shelter and received no background information on him. But as we have pointed out many times on this site, the vast majority of animals in shelters and with rescue groups became homeless due to no fault of their own. Manilla is good with other friendly dogs. Please plan on regular grooming and brushing care for him. Ideally, his new owner/guardian should have knowledge of Terriers.

Please love me and keep me safe and close to your heart.

Image
Update: Buffy was adopted on November 6th! Buffy is a bright-eyed kitten, shy and very sweet, with an affectionate, innocent nature. She is a precious baby girl with stunning Tortoiseshell and white coloring, approximately 6 months of age. Buffy is now spayed and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please ask for her by name in the free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Like her brother Chip (who is also available for adoption, click here for more information ), and all 200 of Nevada SPCA's rescued and spayed/neutered cats for adoption, Buffy needs and requires a strictly indoor-only home for her safety and protection.

I am like a little fox with a heart of gold.

Image
Update: Cord was adopted on November 2nd! Cord is a precious little boy with a vibrant, yet gentle nature. He adores most other dogs. Cord is a Longhair Chihuahua with very expressive eyes. He is neutered and about 5 years of age. Please plan on regular brushing/grooming for him. Cord needed rescue after his owner abandoned him at a veterinary clinic. Cord is one of more than 80 Chihuahuas or Chihuahua mixes available for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I never want to experience starvation again.

Image
Update: Wicket was adopted on October 23rd! Wicket is bouncing back beautifully, thanks to many weeks of care and lots of TLC. He and Domino (a Bully & Retriever mix who is also available for adoption, but they can be adopted separately) were rescued from the streets. It was clear they had gone many days without food, as their bones and spines were protruding and they were weak. In addition, Wicket had a hernia, which we had repaired. Wicket is a small, good-looking Cocker Spaniel mix with a butterscotch coat. He is cheery and friendly, eager to begin his new life. Wicket is neutered and approximately 4 years of age. He enjoys other dogs and needs regular grooming care. Please visit and ask to meet this very special boy today.

We may be royalty, but we are down-to-earth and unassuming kittens.

Image
The Royal Kittens were just four weeks of age when we rescued them, and their mother had either been killed or run off. All 10 of them needed tender loving care and socialization to become well-adjusted and healthy. Thanks to a very attentive foster parent, the kittens improved and learned to love people. Their foster mom says they love to climb all over her and that they are one of the most affectionate litters she has ever fostered. In the picture above, Count Dookoo is joined with his sisters Czarina and Countess. These three and two others remain available for adoption at Nevada SPCA, while the other five have already been adopted into new homes. The Royal Kittens are about 4 months of age. They are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on major vaccinations and microchipped. Please visit on Saturdays in the lobby when they are here with their foster mom to get adopted.

I may look mousy, but I have a feisty spirit.

Image
Update: Pola was adopted on November 13th! Pola is a petite, adorable young girl ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She is a Netherlands Dwarf rabbit, spayed female, about 18 months of age. Outgoing and curious, Pola is a little pack of dynamite, bright-eyed and eager to explore. Pola's ideal new owner will have dwarf bunny experience, keep her always strictly indoors, and allow her to have daily roam time in safe rooms in the house (using baby gates or pens to keep her away from electrical cords). We rescued Pola from an owner who surrendered her without a reason. She is one of more than 70 rescued and spayed/neutered rabbits for adoption at Nevada SPCA.

The dark days are behind me now.

Image
Update: Ollie was adopted on December 29th! Ollie is surprisingly chipper and friendly considering what he has endured. The specifics are a mystery, but we know he is very fortunate to be alive. At the time of rescue he had open wounds, missing patches of hair, and weeds and filth in his coat. This could be consistent with a coyote attack or from long-term neglect in a loveless backyard and/or junkyard. Ollie though is bouncing back and focusing on a future full of love. He debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Ollie is a Terrier mix, neutered male, about 4 years of age. He is good with other friendly dogs and needs regular brushing and grooming. Please visit and ask for Ollie by name so he can spend some time with you on our patio or in the big courtyard.

Update: Lorenzo was adopted on October 21st! Lorenzo is a sweet youngster with a loving nature. He is a Yorkshire Terrier mix with a super cute face. He is neutered and approximately 2 years of age. Like many other Toy breed dogs, Lorenzo is anxious and fearful of young children. This is reportedly why he lost his home and was surrendered to a city shelter. When he ran out of time there, we rescued him and brought him to Nevada SPCA. He requires an adult-only home (or a home with much older and mature children), to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention. Lorenzo likes playing with other dogs and he needs regular grooming care, so please budget and plan accordingly. Lorenzo debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I could not understand why he hit me.

Update: Olive was adopted on October 22nd! Olive yearns for the tender touch of a calm-natured person to reassure her. She is quite concerned with new people, especially men, wondering whether they may strike her, so she dodges your hand until trust is established. With a loving, patient owner and in a home with a stable routine, she will conquer past demons and bloom gorgeously. Olive is most likely a Tibetan Terrier mix, perhaps with Lhasa Apso. She is spayed and approximately 6 years of age. We rescued her from another shelter when she ran out of time there. Olive may adjust best if there is another dog in the home to guide and console her. She would be a magnificent little sister if your dog enjoys taking someone under his or her wing. Olive debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Things are sure looking up for me.

Update: Dove was adopted on October 23rd! Dove is a gentle, cheerful young lady with a radiant spirit. She is a beautiful Beagle mix with a heart-warming smile. She is spayed and about 3 years of age. Dove seems to enjoy the company of other dogs very much. We rescued her from another shelter, so we have little background information. Dove debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

This is my golden opportunity for a lifetime of real, committed love.

Update: Mama was adopted on December 19th! Mama does not even weigh 10 pounds, but her owner rejected her for the following reason: "home not big enough". This is just as well though for her sake, as she reportedly lived on a balcony. Ready for adoption today, she is now set for a forever home where she will be indoors and truly a member of her family. Mama is a dainty, tender-hearted Chihuahua. She is spayed and approximately 2 years young. She is good with other friendly and sweet dogs. Mama will need your patience and guidance, plus a stable routine, to complete housetraining and adjust to indoor living. We believe she will catch on quickly if you are gentle and give her positive reinforcement. Mama is one of 80 Chihuahuas (or Chihuahua mixes) available for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please visit and ask to meet her by name.
