We are brother and sister, and soul-mates too.

Update: Dana & Juicy Couture were adopted on September 11th! Dana & Juicy Couture are very fun young ferrets with curious natures. While they rest hard, they play hard too -- becoming energetic little "wiggleworms" on the go. Dana & Juicy Couture are brother and sister, neutered and spayed (respectively), and approximately one year of age. They are very strongly bonded, so it is unthinkable to separate them. Besides being committed to keeping them together, their ideal new owner should be knowledgeable about ferrets and planning on keeping them safe and loved their entire lifetimes. Dana & Juicy Couture are ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. You can ask for them at the front desk or with the Cat Condo staff.

Little boy, big personality.

Update: Napoleon was adopted on November 11th! Napoleon is an outgoing, cute young rabbit who we rescued from another shelter when he ran out of time there. He is a Netherlands Dwarf, neutered male, 10 months of age. He has a rich, handsome chocolate coat and almond-shaped eyes. Napoleon enjoys people and bonding, but like many of his breed, he gets anxious if handled too long. Napoleon is one of 70 spayed/neutered bunnies for adoption at Nevada SPCA. If you have a rabbit who wants a new brother or sister, please contact our staff and arrange a "bunny date" so that we can ensure your rabbit will get along well with the newest member of the family. Napoleon and all of the adoptable rabbits need indoor homes. They do not handle extreme heat and may perish outdoors in our desert climate.

I yearn to feel at peace and to accept your love.

Update: Foxy Roxy was adopted on September 4th! Foxy Roxy's innocence and trust were badly violated. The person (or people) she loved and depended on viciously struck and beat her. She is extremely head-shy and winces with almost every human contact. She even screams when her tail is touched. But the monster(s) did not destroy her spirit. Foxy Roxy is very anxious to let her guard down and accept your comforts. The emotional wall will come down, provided she is given plenty of time in a gentle, experienced home. Foxy Roxy is a Chihuahua, spayed, and about 2 years young. She seems to be fine with both cats and dogs. Another animal or two in her new home should help her fit in better. Foxy Roxy debuts for adoption today. This sensitive girl survived physical horrors, but emotional healing takes more time. She needs a hero to keep all human evil out of her future.

I am a kissing bandit extraordinaire!

Update: Plato was adopted on August 29th! Plato loves nothing more than to shower you with kisses. He will sneak them on you every chance he gets. Besides being exceptionally affectionate, he has a very sweet disposition. Plato is a young Dachshund who enjoys the company of other dogs. He is neutered, 2 years of age. We rescued Plato from another shelter. He reportedly was surrendered there after chewing up the family couch. But chewing is a natural, healthy, and necessary behavior, especially with puppies and youngsters like Plato. The challenge is to direct this need in appropriate directions with toys and chews. Plato debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Dachshund knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred.

They say I am a spectacular jewel.

Update: Ruby was adopted on October 3rd! Beautiful inside and out, Ruby is indeed a true gem. She has a friendly, innocent nature and endearing temperament. Ruby has gorgeous brindle coloring. Our best guess is that she has Retriever and Boxer mixed in and she is large in size. She is spayed and approximately just one year of age. We rescued Ruby from another shelter. She was reportedly surrendered there after the family lost their home to foreclosure. Ruby is reportedly fine with other playful dogs. We hope you will give this big lovebug serious consideration. She is chock full of unconditional love.

I will try to be your lifelong superhero!

Reggie is blessed with Batman-style ears. They are just too adorable! This curious, sweet, and very good-natured puppy aims to please. He craves your attention and reassurances that you love him dearly. Reggie is a Heinz 57 with Bully & Retriever. He is neutered and about 6 months of age. We expect him to grow to large size. He is reportedly good with kind, mature children. He also passed his initial compatibility tests with cats and other dogs too, so we are encouraged that he may get along well with other animals. We rescued Reggie from another shelter. He had been surrendered there for barking, but his previous owners admitted to banishing him to living outdoors only. It is no surprise then that this social, loving puppy would cry and make noise to get the attention of those he loved, begging to come indoors to be with the family. And in our desert climate, it is simply unconscionable and recklessly dangerous to force a companion animal to live only outdoors with the wea

I am proudly unique. There is no one else quite like me.

Update: Care Bear was adopted on November 3rd! Care Bear seems to glow. We have debated whether this is because of his sparkling personality or because of his stunning hazel eyes and red coat. We rescued Care Bear from another shelter. He is bouncing back well from a very severe ear infection. He is most likely a Pomeranian & Finnish Spitz mix. He is neutered and approximately 2 years young. Care Bear enjoys other dogs. Please plan on regular brushing and grooming for him. He debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Addendum: Care Bear is reportedly anxious and fearful around young children. To err on the safe side for dog bite prevention, he must have no access to toddlers or young children.

I am a gentle soul.

Update: Chocolate was adopted on August 28th! Chocolate is a complete sweetheart! She is very loving and good-natured. All she wants is someone to bless with her unconditional love in exchange for a lifetime of good care and adoration. Chocolate is a darling Cocker Spaniel, spayed, 3 years young. She needed rescue when her owners moved to an apartment that did not allow pets. Besides losing her human family, she lost her Cocker Spaniel brother who was also relinquished. He was already neutered and was quickly adopted shortly after being surrendered to us. Chocolate is now spayed and she debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Chocolate is housetrained and compatible with other dogs and mature children. Her favorite toys are tennis balls. Please be sure to budget extra for regular grooming for her.

My heart aches from being thrown away like trash.

Our volunteers happened to catch a woman sneaking behind a building and dumping two cats out to fend for themselves. She sped away before they could see her license plate, since companion animal abandonment outdoors is both a moral and legal crime, but they were able to capture the cats and bring them to safety at Nevada SPCA. Poppy is now ready for adoption to a loving, forever home. He is a treasure, not trash. Poppy's brother has been adopted, so he now awaits a hero to come for him too. Poppy is an exceptionally handsome London Tabby, neutered male, approximately 3 years of age. He has a curious, inquisitive nature and he gets along well with the other rescued cats. Please come meet Poppy today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. He and 200 other spayed/neutered felines seek committed, indoor-only homes where they will be cherished for a lifetime.

Adopt me and get ready for a lifetime of fun.

Image
Update: Roscoe P. Coltrane was adopted on September 7th! Roscoe P. Coltrane has a zest for life and positive outlook. He is a Boston Terrier with a heart of gold. He is neutered and approximately 4 years of age. Roscoe P. Coltrane is fine with some dogs, but reportedly lost his home due to fighting with a relative's dog. He is housetrained and fine with older, mature children. We had his cherry eye condition repaired at a local veterinary clinic. Please have your own veterinarian monitor the eye on a regular basis in the years to come. Boston Terrier knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred for his adoption. Roscoe P. Coltrane debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I am jumping for joy because I have a new lease on life!

Update: Andy was adopted on August 28th! One of our volunteers saw a dirty little brown dog scurrying across a very busy city street. She carefully pursued him and cornered him behind a library, where she was able to capture him. She took him home, cleaned him up, and discovered under all of his matts, tangles, and filth that she had just rescued a severely neglected little white Poodle. She believes he had gone for many months, perhaps even beyond a year, without proper grooming or hygiene. She named him Andy , and she discovered that he got along well with her cats and dogs. She brought him to us to get neutered, vaccinated, and then to find a forever home. Andy is approximately 18 months of age. He beams with excitement because he is finally receiving loving care and lots of attention from staff and volunteers. Andy's rescue has been an awakening. He is learning how fun and caring people can be. Today is Andy's big day -- he debuts for adoption. Please come meet this

Who is going to love me and care for me now?

Update: Scooby was adopted on October 3rd! Like most rescued animals at shelters and with rescue groups, Scooby did nothing wrong and did not deserve to lose his home. He needed rescue because his owner reported being too allergic to keep him. Scooby is a very handsome Pomeranian & Dachshund mix. He is neutered and approximately 4 years of age. Scooby enjoys the company of other dogs. He needs regular grooming/brushing care, so please plan accordingly. He is reportedly crate-trained, but he may need your patience and guidance (and a stable routine) in order to fully complete housetraining. He is also reportedly fine with mature, kind children. Scooby's emotional challenge is gaining self-esteem. He is quite shy with new people and new situations. However, he is warm and gentle when relaxed and confident, so we believe it is just a matter of time before he learns to enjoy new experiences. Please visit and ask for Scooby . He debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Life is a bowl of cherries.

Update: Carlie was adopted on August 31st! Carlie glows with joy. She has a bright, sunny spirit and sees the world as rosy and full of fun. She is a gorgeous Boxer with tiger-like brindle coloring (though tri-color overall), approximately 2 years young. The staff says they call her a "wiggle worm" because her whole body shakes with enthusiasm when she greets you. We rescued Carlie after her owner abandoned her behind a building in the middle of the night. Boxer knowledge and/or experience is preferred. Carlie is spayed and she debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She wants and needs an owner who will help her keep her radiant, jubilant perspective on life.

I am a rustic old treasure with a beautiful heart of gold.

Image
Update: Jessica was adopted on August 29th! Jessica is homeless at 12 years of age and perhaps in the twilight of her life (though we believe she has several wonderful years ahead of her). But before skipping past her because of her age, please consider the world of love this amazing senior has to offer. She is full of innocence and her mellow nature is soothing and powerful in a quiet way. Jessica lost her home because her owner said she bonds closely with women, but avoided him. She is a Lhasa Apso mix. She is spayed, housetrained, and compatible with other sweet dogs. Please open your heart to Jessica . Every day is precious and she is ready now to begin a new chapter with you.

I feel so lost and unsure of how I fit into the world.

Update 2: Cora was adopted on October 17th! Update: Callie & Cam were adopted on August 29th! We rescued Callie from another shelter when she ran out of time there. At the same time, we rescued Cam & Cora, brother and sister puppies, who have similar challenges. They are shy and appear to have had very little socialization, so new people and new places distress them. Building self-esteem will take time and patience in an experienced, gentle home with a stable routine. Callie and the siblings are most likely Boxer and Retriever mixes. They are spayed/neutered and approximately 4-6 months young. They will grow to medium size at most. As their confidence builds in new home environments, their personalities will emerge and they will begin enjoying new experiences (rather than shunning them). They can be adopted separately. We believe they may do best in homes with other dogs though -- a big brother or big sister dog can help them adjust and fit in. Callie , Cora, and Cam debu

I am a heavenly girl.

Update: Angel was adopted on August 27th! Angel's sweet disposition is one of her best qualities. She is a gorgeous Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel & Poodle) mix, spayed, and approximately 4 years young. Angel is housetrained (with a doggie door) and compatible with other good-natured dogs. Please plan on regular grooming care for her and budget extra accordingly. Angel needed rescue because her owner became too ill to care for her. Angel is one of more than a dozen dogs debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Good foster care saved us and helped us blossom.

Image
Update 2: Joey & JoJo were adopted on August 27th! Update 1: Jack was adopted on August 26th! JoJo, Joey, & Jack are very gentle-hearted puppies who have adventurous spirits. The brothers are most likely Chihuahua & Terrier mixes and they will remain small in size. We rescued the boys when they were only 5 weeks of age. We placed them in a very experienced and caring foster home where they began to thrive physically and socially. JoJo, Joey, & Jack are used to being with other sweet and friendly dogs. They loved playing together in the large garden at the foster home. The brothers enjoy people very much too. Each loves to cuddle and give kisses when they are happy and relaxed. The boys can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair, or the trio, for lifelong companionship. They hopefully have at least 15 good years of life ahead of them and they would love to spend their lives with others of their own kind for deep companionship and bonding.

I am seeking a quiet home with bunny experience.

Image
Madeline reliably greets us with a hop and nuzzling affection when we first visit with her each day. She is an exotic beauty, perhaps a mixture of Himalayan, Dwarf, and Satin rabbit breeds. She is approximately two years young. Madeline is now spayed and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She enjoys petting and she has a relatively outgoing nature, but being held makes her quite anxious. We believe this is because she was handled improperly in her previous home. Please come meet this very beautiful young lady at Nevada SPCA. Madeline is one of more than 70 rescued, spayed/neutered bunnies for adoption today.

If you are sweet I will kiss you.

Image
Update: Lolo was adopted on August 29th! Lolo is an exceptionally affectionate youngster. The staff say he is a complete "lovebug" and they just want to hold him and snuggle with him as often as they can. He is shy with new people and new situations. We rescued him from another shelter, so we do not know much about his background. Lolo is a Chinese Crested mix, neutered male, approximately 2 years of age. He enjoys other dogs very much. If you have a dog who needs a new brother, please bring him or her to our headquarters and we can introduce the pair in the patio or courtyard. Lolo needs regular grooming and brushing, so please plan accordingly. He debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. A gentle home is ideal for him.

Can I continue my recovery in your loving care?

Update: Tigger was adopted on October 2nd! Tigger cannot get enough belly rubs! With those he knows and trusts, he loves to cuddle and sleep on a pillow next to you. But trust does not come easy for this cute boy. He is recovering from abuse and lack of socialization. Tigger is a Terrier & Toy mix, neutered, and approximately 4 years of age. He made solid progress in a caring foster home. He is now housetrained and compatible with bigger dogs (though perhaps too alpha around dogs his size). His foster mom believes he will do best with another dog or two in his new home to help him adjust and fit in. Besides with strangers, Tigger's fear and anxiety come to the surface reportedly when he is put in a crate or kennel. He also exhibits food aggression with bones and chews, perhaps due to previous starvation. When most fearful, he may hide under the bed and become nippy. However, in a very patient and quiet home, with a stable routine and lots of love, Tigger will continue t

A bright, hopeful future is ahead of me.

Update: Gunther was adopted on August 27th! Gunther was staggering around a parking lot, dodging cars, at the time of his rescue. Now he is thriving, expressing his playful nature and seeking affection from staff and volunteers. Gunther is an adorable Heinz 57 with Shepherd, approximately 3 months young. We expect him to grow to medium or large size. He is neutered and debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home and yard for his safety and protection. Gunther will also need your patience and guidance for basic behaviors, including housetraining.

I am a gentle girl and I only ask to be loved and cared for properly.

Image
Update: Madame Butterfly was adopted on January 25th! Madame Butterfly is a gorgeous young lady named for an opera and novel, but she is far from being a diva. She has a calm, easy-going personality and she is undemanding. Her gorgeous blue eyes seem full of great serenity and wisdom. Madame Butterfly is most likely a Lop and Chinchilla mix bunny, spayed, and approximately 2 years young. She is recovering well from severe neglect, though she still needs to trim up more, safely and with regular veterinary monitoring. She cherishes her daily greens and Timothy hay. Keeping her on good quality foods is a necessity. Please visit and ask for Madame Butterfly by name. She is one of more than 70 spayed/neutered rabbits available for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I can be your zippy, enthusiastic boy.

Update: Cartier was adopted on December 26th! We sure expected Cartier to be adopted many weeks ago. But it is impossible to predict which of the animals will really find homes right away versus those who need more time and opportunities to reach potential adopters. Cartier is a very fun-loving youngster with a sunny personality. He is a West Highland White Terrier ("Westie") mix, neutered, approximately two years of age. Cartier is compatible with some dogs and shows signs of housetraining. Like many other Terriers, he gives himself over wholeheartedly to those he likes, yet is not shy about expressing his aversion to those who he dislikes. Cartier has divided our staff and volunteers into these same two groups -- snuggling with some of us and being cranky with others. Ideally, we would like him to be adopted by someone knowledgeable about Westies and familiar with the sometimes testy nature of Terriers. You can see more of Cartier in this brief video. The bottom line i

Adopt me and I promise to add spice and jazz to your life.

Update: Mambo was adopted on November 21st! Mambo radiates happiness. His cheerful nature is contagious and he has great affection for those he knows and trusts. Mambo is a cute Chihuahua mix, neutered, and approximately 9 years of age. He gets along well with other friendly dogs. We rescued Mambo from another shelter. We sure hope you will not overlook him based on his age. We believe he has many wonderful years left on Earth to share his unconditional love and joy for life.

I love playing with tennis balls.

Image
Update: Conrad was adopted on December 24th! Conrad is 107 pounds of joy and excitement! He is a handsome Labrador Retriever, neutered, and acts very much like a puppy despite being approximately 5 years of age. We rescued Conrad from another shelter when he ran out of time there. His love for tennis balls hypnotizes him. We were having trouble getting him to hold still for his portrait (because he wanted hugs and playtime), so we put a tennis ball behind the camera. You can see for yourself the intensity of his focus on the ball! Conrad has tons of energy and sometimes plays a bit rough, so his new owner needs to be 100% committed to dog training (and ideally have some training experience) to help him channel his energy into good behaviors. Conrad debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

My last moment with my owner was when she literally threw me and ran away.

Image
Update: Ricketts was adopted on November 12th! If surrendered to us properly, we could have learned about Ricketts' past to help us with determining which vaccines he needed, as well as learning about his behaviors and preferences. But shamelessly without dignity, his owner chose an act of cowardice as the means to get rid of this wonderful young boy. Witnesses saw her sneak up to our entrance, recklessly throw the cat inside, and then dash to her car and speed away. Ricketts can not be degraded by her faults though. He is an exceptionally sweet and cute Cream Point Siamese, approximately 2 years of age. He is now neutered and ready for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Ricketts gets along very well with other friendly cats. His blue eyes are stunning! Like many of the Siamese, he appears slightly cross-eyed from some angles. Ricketts needs and deserves a very committed new owner so that he never again has to experience being thrown away.

I yearn for your love and attention.

Image
Update: Carmella was adopted on August 29th! Carmella is a zippy, good-natured girl with a wonderful temperament. Her heart is broken right now. She was perfectly well-behaved in her previous home, but her owner relinquished her because the family was losing the house to foreclosure. Carmella is housetrained and crate-trained. She is compatible with most dogs and she is used to being around kind, mature children. Carmella is a medium-size Heinz 57 with Shepherd. (She is smaller in person than she appears in her portrait.) She is spayed and a beautiful mix of perhaps many breeds. Please come meet this loyal, devoted, and extraordinary girl today at Nevada SPCA.

I am a lover and a joker.

Image
T-Rex is a very fun little guy. He seems to us to be equally full of mischief and sweetness. You can see that sparkle in his eye too that indicates he is a thinker -- bright, alert, and thoughtful. T-Rex is a cute Chihuahua with a very warm smile. He is neutered and approximately 4 years of age. He enjoys being with other dogs. We prefer a home for him with another dog (or dogs) to keep him mentally and physically engaged. T-Rex needed rescue because his previous owner abandoned him in an apartment.

Cute, cured, and counting on a wonderful new life.

Image
Update: Princeton was adopted on August 27th! Princeton is a charming, innocent, and playful 3 month old puppy debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. He is neutered and most likely a Labrador Retriever mix, perhaps with Shepherd, though it is very difficult to guess well when puppies are this young. But we can safely estimate that he will grow to medium or large size. We rescued Princeton in late June. He was very sick with the parvo virus, but his owner was unable or unwilling to provide the emergency medical care needed to try and save his life. We had intensive care provided for Princeton at Dewey Veterinary Medical Center, which shares the building with us. He made a full recovery. Please be sure to carefully puppy-proof your home & yard for Princeton's safety. Also, he will need your patience and guidance to complete basic training, including housetraining.

Calico cats like me, according to folklore, bring their owners good luck.

Image
Update: Raquel was adopted on September 5th! Raquel needs good fortune to shine her way in the form of a new loving home. She needed us for rescue when her owner was deployed overseas to fight for our country. Raquel is a gentle young girl who gets along well with other sweet cats. She has beautiful calico coloring. She is spayed and approximately 3 years of age. You can meet and adopt Raquel in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. She may do best in a quieter home, and like all of the more than 200 rescued cats available for adoption today, she requires a strictly indoor-only home for her safety and protection.

Please do not overlook me. I am ready to go home with you.

We cannot imagine why this fun-loving, outgoing, and affectionate puppy is getting passed over by visitors. We find him incredibly adorable. Friday has immense joy for life and he loves people. He's good with other dogs too, especially those who will play with him. He is a medium-sized Heinz 57 with Labrador Retriever, possibly with some Bully too. He is approximately 9 months of age. Friday needed rescue when he contracted the parvo virus. His owner could not (or would not) provide emergency medical care to save his life, so we stepped in and had that care provided for him. After extensive treatment, he made a full recovery. Friday has a very sunny disposition and he brings good cheer with him everywhere he goes. Please provide basic obedience training for him to help him become the best he can be. You can ask for him by name at our front desk so he can join you in the courtyard for playtime and a meet-and-greet. Addendum: Friday is now just under a year of age. He is rep

Please carefully puppy-proof your house for my safety.

Update: Socks was adopted on August 20th! Socks (pictured here) and his brother Snowflake are Cockapoo puppies (Cocker Spaniel & Poodle mixes) with gentle, loving natures. The boys have few resemblances to one another, but their owner assured us they are related, born from the same litter 3 months ago. Their owner relinquished them due to his poor health. Socks and Snowflake can be adopted separately, but we give preference to keeping them together. They are wonderful together and can provide each other lifelong companionship. If you are considering them, please be sure to budget extra for regular grooming care. And puppies need very thorough puppy-proofing of your home and yard for their protection. The boys debut for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

Clementine, the pardoned turkey.

Image
Update: Clementine was adopted on August 21st! We consider all of animals rescued by Nevada SPCA to be receiving pardons, since we will take them back from adopters if they are ever homeless or in emergency need again. Clementine's pardon came yesterday after we rescued her from another shelter. She is a domesticated young turkey, seemingly in good health. Our biggest surprise with Clementine has been how friendly and affectionate she is with us. Besides letting us pet her, she enjoys being held and perching on shoulders. We are seeking lifelong sanctuary for her, ideally with other female turkeys she can bond with and caretakers knowledgeable about her species.

Being sweet is always hip and cool.

Image
Update: Richie was adopted on December 26th! Richie is a jazzy, vocal boy with a radiant personality. He is great fun to be around and he enjoys other dogs too. He is a Beagle, neutered, about 6 years of age. Richie debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Knowledge about and/or experience with Beagle is preferred. We rescued him from another shelter.

I offer the greatest gift - unconditional love.

Image
Update: Mickey was adopted on August 21st! Mickey is a cheerful, super sweet little boy. He reportedly loves to watch Animal Planet with you, standing on his hind legs and barking/talking at the dogs on TV, wagging his tail the whole time in fun. Mickey is a Shih-Tzu, approximately 6 years of age. He needs regular grooming care, so please budget extra accordingly. He is good with other dogs. His previous owner reported that he is also fine with mature, older children, plus he is housetrained (with a doggie door). Mickey needed us for rescue when his owner lost his job and could no longer care for him. Mickey is now neutered and debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I am a jolly good fellow.

Image
Update: Pike was adopted on September 5th! Pike is a very warm, friendly boy with a face which reflects his kindness. He is a Doberman Pinscher, neutered male, approximately 4 years of age. Pike is housetrained (with a doggie door). He is also reportedly compatible with other good-natured dogs and mature children. Pike is on the plump side and needs some trimming up. Please consult with your veterinarian on a safe and proper weight loss plan for him. Pike needed us out of no fault of his own. His owner surrendered him, noting that he could no longer financially care for him. Doberman Pinscher knowledge and/or experience is preferred. Pike is ready to meet you today.

We need to always keep each other in sight.

We honor the very strong bonds adult animals make with one another and require them to be adopted together (when splitting them up could cause emotional trauma or severe depression). Annie & Mushu are not just sister and brother, but they are also soul-mates. These two attractive Shar-Peis prefer to always be touching and they sleep curled up together. If out of each others' eyesight, even for a minute, they will cry and show distress. Annie & Mushu are well-behaved, housetrained, and kennel-trained. They are approximately 2 years of age. They are wary of strangers, but once they trust you both are very loving and may even try to crawl in your lap to get close for affection. Therefore, a quieter home with a stable routine is probably the best fit for them, plus an owner who is knowledgeable about Shar-Peis. Annie & Mushu were abandoned by their owners who lost their home to foreclosure. A temporary care-taker helped care for them until we were able to make room

I keep losing the people I love.

Update: Nestle was adopted on August 29th! Nestle craves being reassured. She wears her heart on her sleeve (paw) and needs to always feel like she belongs. She is a super cute brindle-and-white Miniature Pinscher mix, spayed female, less than 2 years of age. Besides having a very loving nature, Nestle is compatible with both cats and dogs. Her primary challenge is separation anxiety. She panics when left alone -- worried she is being abandoned forever, yet again -- and this leads to unfortunate behaviors (destructiveness, accidents indoors, etc.). But in an experienced home, with time and great patience, plus a regular schedule, Nestle's anxiety will diminish. Please only consider her if you are exceptionally committed. Nestle is ready for an adult-only home where she will gain self-esteem and the feeling of being grounded and secure. We believe she may do best in a home with other animals that utilizes crate training for the times when people are not at home, at least ini

These eyes have seen too much hurt.

Update: Lotus was adopted on August 24th! Lotus is an apt name for a gorgeous young girl who is about to blossom. She is overcoming emotional pain though, and memories of screaming and physical abuse. Trust will take time, helped by a gentle, experienced owner and a stable routine. Lotus is a golden-eyed Shepherd mix, medium-size, approximately 2 years of age. We rescued her from another shelter where she ran out of time. Lotus is debuting for adoption today. She has tremendous loving potential!

I am a loyal, devoted girl.

Image
Update: Gypsy was adopted on January 7th! Gypsy enjoys hiking and playing fetch. She loves being included in as many outings and activities with you as possible. She is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, spayed female, approximately 4 years of age. Gypsy is housetrained and knows basic training commands. She is reportedly used to being around older, mature kids. Gypsy lost her home after attacking two small dogs (but the circumstances of this incident are unknown). We know she is fine with dogs her size, but to err on the safe side she should not have any access whatsoever to small dogs and cats. Please note too that she is wary of adult men who she is not familiar with, so be sure not to ask too much of her around strangers. Gypsy is available for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

The streets of broken dreams.

Image
Update: Locket was adopted on September 25th! Locket almost became one of the countless felines who perish every day outdoors, where dangers are ever-present: cars, dogs, disease, pranksters, birds of prey, the elements, among many more. She was in the streets with a broken pelvis, most likely the result of being run over or struck by a car. After two months of medical care and cage rest, she made a good recovery. She can walk again. Locket now needs a new home -- one where she will be kept strictly indoors for her safety & protection. She is most likely an American & British Shorthair mix, approximately 3 years of age. She is spayed and her beautiful colors resemble "Torbie" patterning with brown, orange-tan, & white. Personality-wise, Locket is a very sweet, loving girl, but with a shy and quieter nature. We believe she will do best in a calmer home. Please visit Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms and ask for Locket by name.

I have had all of the heartache that I can bear.

Patches lost her dad, who was sent to Iraq. Then, her mom died. Patches feels lost and unsure, worried that the people she loves and the things she counts on and enjoys will disappear again. She is a beautiful dilute calico (blue-grey, cream, & white), spayed female, approximately 4 years of age. Patches is loving and she plays gently. Her dainty, graceful behaviors include cupping her drinking water in her paw before licking it up. Patches is ready for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. If you have a calm and very stable home and can give her a strictly indoor-only lifestyle, please come and adopt this little angel.

What does the future hold for us?

Update 3: Christie and Dallas were adopted on August 18th! Update 2: Austin and Lone Star were adopted on August 17th! Update 1: Amarillo and Houston were adopted on August 15th! Amarillo & Christie are brother and sister, and along with four other siblings (Austin, Dallas, Houston, & Lone Star) make up "The Lone Star Puppies". They are Dachshund mixes, approximately 3 months of age. Each has been spayed/neutered and they are debuting for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. The puppies can be adopted separately, but please consider adopting a pair for lifelong companionship. They do so well together and adore each others' company. We rescued the puppies weeks ago from owners who said they were an "oops" litter. In other words, they had failed to spay their dog and she, not surprisingly, became pregnant. We took the puppies on the condition that they spay momma. If you need to spay/neuter your companion animals, please call us at 873-SPCA (7722) and we wil

I feel renewed and hopeful and I am ready to begin my new life.

Update: Regina McPoodle was adopted on August 15th! Regina McPoodle came to us needing emergency care after being found crying and limping in the street. She was in very poor condition, on all levels, and she was in terrible pain. We rushed her into intensive care and x-rays revealed that she had both a broken back leg and a broken pelvis. Her veterinarian believed the injuries were the result of being struck by or thrown from a car. One of our volunteers and supporters very generously offered to take her to a specialty center to try and save her leg and repair her pelvis. The operations were successful and Regina McPoodle can walk again. Today is very special -- she debuts for adoption at Nevada SPCA. Regina McPoodle has a gentle, loving nature. We believe she will do best in a calmer home. She is a Toy Poodle, spayed, approximately 2 years young. Please budget extra for regular grooming so that she never again experiences neglect.

I am big love in a tiny package.

Update: Skreech was adopted on August 27th! Skreech is a super cute, rambunctious, and playful Chihuahua puppy. He is approximately 3 months young, neutered, and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. We rescued Skreech when he was sick with the dreaded parvo virus. His owner was unwilling or unable to give him emergency medical care, and without it, death would have been certain. We had the intensive care provided for him at Dewey Veterinary Medical Center and he made a full recovery. To err on the safe side in the short-term for other dogs, he should not be directly exposed to any unvaccinated dogs. Skreech is ready to provide you with a lifetime of laughs, kisses, hugs, and wonderful memories. Please ask for him by name at Nevada SPCA.

They say I am a lovebug.

Update: Lilly was adopted on August 15th! Lilly is a darling puppy with an affectionate, cheerful nature. She is a Pomeranian, six months young. Lilly enjoys the company of other sweet dogs. She is reportedly "mostly" housetrained and she needs regular grooming care. Lilly needed us because her owner's schedule was too full and she was working too much overtime. She debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA.

I miss my mommy.

Foghorn needed rescue when his owner died. He is an exceptionally handsome, snow-white medium-hair with gold speckled eyes. He is neutered and approximately 5 years of age. Foghorn is deaf. Please be sure to take extra precautions to safe-proof your home for his protection. He loves being pampered and needs periodic brushing and coat care. He also enjoys finding high places to nap and nestle, so we suggest a full-size cat tree with a perch on top, or otherwise making a special space for him on a high ledge or dresser. Foghorn has an independent spirit, but he also has times when he wants and needs your attention and reassurance. He is ready for adoption today in Nevada SPCA's free-roaming Cat Condo playrooms. Please ask for him by name.

I am smaller than a suitcase so why can I not go with you?

Update: Hunter was adopted on August 17th! Hunter is an exceptionally endearing and loving youngster. He is a Dachshund, miniature size, with a beautiful blue sunburst in his left eye. He is approximately one year of age and neutered. Hunter is reportedly compatible with cats, as well as dogs. He is also housetrained and crate-trained. Dachshund knowledge and/or experience is strongly preferred for him. Hunter needed us when his owners moved away. Hunter debuts for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Please come meet this super cute and excitable young boy.

Who can I trust?

Update: Redwood was adopted on August 17th! We found this adorable little puppy tied to a parking post on a hot summer, thrown away in a dangerous and reckless manner. We rushed him into veterinary care to cool him off, worried he could become the victim of heat stroke. Physically, he recovered well. Emotionally, his progress was only beginning. We named him Redwood for his deep rust coat. We believe he is most likely a Vizsla mix, approximately 4 months young, and we expect him to grow to medium or large size. Redwood is hand-shy. It's clear that his previous owner hit him on the face. Trusting people will take time & patience in an experienced, gentle home with a stable routine. Redwood is just now awakening to the better side of human nature. Please be his hero and ensure his trust is never abused so violently again. Redwood is now neutered and ready for adoption today.

I still feel so lonely.

Update: Roxy was adopted on August 14th! Roxy needed us when her owner passed away. Her crying was almost inconsolable the first few days, despite hugs and reassurance from staff. Roxy is feeling a bit better, though still craving attention. She is very loving and very loyal. She is a tri-color Beagle (perhaps a mix, as she is still too young to tell for sure), approximately 4 months young. Roxy is now spayed and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. Roxy is good with other friendly dogs. She is also reportedly crate-trained and partially housetrained too.
