A label could have killed me.
Update: Shelby was adopted on August 6th!
It is common for us to get reports on surrendered and rescued dogs that do not at all match our experiences with the dogs.
Our policy is to disclose any and all negative information, even when we believe it is wrong.
Shelby is a very sweet Beagle mix puppy, approximately 10 months of age. She was surrendered to us by her owner who said she bites.
The vicious label stumped us. From day one she was licking our faces and jumping on us for hugs. We thought there must be some mistake because Shelby does not seem to have a vicious bone in her body.
We are very confident that her heart is full of love. But it is important to err on the safe side for dog bite prevention, so Shelby does require an experienced home and there should be no young children in the home.
Thankfully, Shelby came to us. It's heartbreaking to consider the huge number of dogs and cats euthanized each year at other shelters due to mistaken information (for instance, "bites" which were only scratches, "playfulness" which is deemed aggression, and so forth).
Shelby is spayed now and ready for adoption today at Nevada SPCA. She enjoys other dogs and wants to be the center of your attention.
